I'm not a plumber so I appreciate all the insider information. An 'Honest' Tradesman is worth his weight in GOLD.
  • @popanda5988
Steven Im currently in school for plumbing and I must admit ... I would have gladly paid you to be my teacher. This is a thousand dollars worth of information your giving away. Some people look to superman or Batman as there hero but I see you and I see my hero!

I e been doing drain cleaning for about 6 years now..I’m not a plumber, but successful at the drain cleaning business and this channel has been a godsend to me, thank you... videos like this have helped me tremendously because I often run into issues like this... I have to take a toilet off to send a cable and blade down an inside main, and at times the toilet has been on for 30 years or maybe less and crappy materials were used, You never know

Hands down, the most informative video I've seen today, straight to the point, and believe me I have gone over quite a few videos today on how to fix my toilet's flange problem .  gave me some good advice and ideas of how to solve it... off to the Depot, Thanks!!
  • @Kainezwrld
These are the heroes us DIY’ers need! Watched your video 4-5 times, after watching a few others, and yours covered it all. Saved my a$$ in more ways than just money. (Went with the pvc with the rubber gasket and inserted inside my existing flange). Lots of great tips that came in handy (spacer, brass, etc). Thank you!! 👏👏👏
  • @mikebritt173
Thank you very much! I thought I was going to have to replace my flange after the linoleum floor was replaced with plank flooring. Didn’t know they made flange extensions. Saved me a lot of time, money and headache. So thank you very much!!!!

Thank you for making this video. Excellent point about the plastic horn wax ring kits causing leaks. This is exactly what was happening with my 15 y/o toilet..water on floor. Unfortunately I reinstalled another one with the horn before seeing your video. I'll be replacing it with a plain wax one this weekend. Again, thanks for taking the time to explain the different flanges and the great tips.
  • Being one who records whilst they work and edits in the twilight hours. I know the difficulties and how much effort goes into making these videos. Material like this is undervalued. Education has changed so much with YouTube. Society are gaining the equivalent of a YouTube plumbing degree. It's good when it's used for something positive like making individuals better engineers. Onsite experience is vital as well as real qualifications. Yet this media stream and experience passed on is helping nations strive to better engineering standards. It would have been a game changer if I had some of these videos when I initially qualified as a plumber 13 years ago. There was hardly anything like this to watch. It's great that the information is there for those that are thirsty to grow in their knowledge of the trade.
  • @purplemutantas
Great info. I replaced one of our toilets yesterday. The flange looks like it has seen better days. It's a metal flange that is rotting away. For now it works. But at some point it needs replacing. I think will replace it with a PVC flange. Thanks for the video.

I appreciate the tip about the Gapper Repair kit, and the disadvantage of the wax ring with funnel. We'll re-do our toilet replacement properly using the tips in this video.
  • @atgalpin
Wow! Steve. VERY nice job! And videotaping with ONE hand even! Thanks for sharing your 30+ years of experience to all us newbees. You have made our lives so much easier. Very much appreciated! You rock!
  • This was very informative. I feel almost like a flange expert now except for the molten lead whatever that was. It will help me deal with an off level flange. It was also fun to watch. Thanks!!!!!
  • Back in the day when I learned new construction plumbing in the 70s we were installing ABS for residential plumbing and Cast Iron for commercial plumbing most of the time. When they came out with closet rings with Stainless Steel instead of the metal which does rust out and causes a problem I switched to Stainless and never looked back. They have Off set closet bends and some in the weirdest angles for different situations you might run into structurally and have to use them. But Steve put on a good show explaining all the types and explained it very clearly in my opinion. We didn't have youtube back in the day and Oh by the way Steven, Ive been married Twice and NEVER AGAIN LOL.
  • Lordy Lordy … someone who knows what they are talking about!! Thanks so much for explaining the “why you do this or that” best video ever other the the Barbara Streisand Live video. Hats off and thanks
  • @britlandry6033
Awesome video, easy to understand and gives several different options for your particular circumstance!
  • @tifu678
This right here was a master class. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
  • @SommerFamilyDad
your comments on the wax ring with the funnel is spot-on. This is EXACTLY what happened to make a mess of my bathroom. The funnel sounds like a good idea, but it's totally a formula for trouble. BTW, I've got a 4x3 flange, and since I had to tear out the linoleum, I need a flange repair option to work with.
  • @wyattsdad8561
I was just thinking about this channel last week and wondering if it was still around because it hadn’t been on my feed in almost two years. I’m glad he’s still making vids.
  • @ablemagawitch
Thank you +steven lavimoniere , over 3 years later you're still helping people. Over 654 thousand and counting. The advice you share from years of experience is priceless.
