Director Shin Wooseok deserves more credit. He's responsible for some of NewJeans most iconic MVs.

Fun fact, Tony Leung agreed to do this for his Korean fans...and did it for free.

I saw someone say here on a YouTube comment that she's not Cupid, she's Cupid and Psyche's daughter Voluptas, goddess of lust. That's why the relationships that she puts together don't last, cause it's not love, it's just sexual desire. Tony at the end is the real Cupid, he comes and makes the guy fall in real love, to show her that what she can provide is not "the real deal" just a fleeting emotion/sensation. And newjeans are the Graces that follow Voluptas around.

Guys it’s official: Newjeans aren’t making music videos anymore, they’re making movies 🙌 Give them an Oscar right the heck now 😂❤

With heavenly visual & personality, Newjeans is the perfect idol of the era.

12:23 The choreography in Side B is a ritual to summon punisher for Cupid who neglected her duties. 18:01 This choreography is when the observer NewJeans tells Hoyeon to forget the past and come back to Cupid. But she wanted to remain human. The important thing is that even if she meets another man and falls in love, Punisher will appear and interrupt.
  • Another detail that I’ve noticed and really liked, it’s the fact that when Hoyeon is still a god we can’t see her legs due to her long bottoms. After she becomes a human we get shots that focus only on her shoes to prove to us again that she’s now human.

Hoyeon is such an incredible actress. The way she portrayed the emotions Cupid was feeling felt so real, I believed everything because I could see pain on her face, inside her eyes… this is amazing

I'm hopeful with the ending because Hoyeon looks defience to me and turn to walk back from where she came from like she won't give up on Psyche and return to him or she won't return to being deity and continue to search for new love as human. The overall interpretation for me is from the big clue at the giant painting in the museum. This MV is the modern interpretation of the Eros (Cupid) and Psyche myth. Other than the modern interpretation of Eros and Psyche, this mv kinda remind me of the idol life. They sing about love and many of their music help others fall in love, but they cannot fall in love themselves due to contract and fan culture. If they want love, they often have to give up their status as idol like how Hoyeon gave up her role as deity to be with her Psyche.

the thing that i love the most is that the message is done in such a discreet way, with just the eyes, simple looks, little change in expressions.... is so smooth!
  • @lamblamb2506
This is THE analyse I wanted from reviewers. All the connotations and metaphors .... These are the thing that you can expect only from creators!! I'd love to make Korean subtitles so that Korean fans can appreciate Jordan's contents
  • @27hite97
this MV is literally ART seriously
  • @Heyya01
At this point, Newjeans is a genre of their own. Newjeans is another level ❤❤❤
  • @andhe3739
i love that newjeans always has these incomplete stories what ended up happening to heesoo in ditto? what happens to cupid in cool with you? what happens to eva in ETA? so many stories beautifully played out but left with suspension draws us all in so much more than any completed story could

  • @gwkor
Director Shin would definitely like you. Not only do you interpret the exact story, but you also catch the creator's intentions, such as filming and editing techniques.
