Obviously, the reason this mine was abandoned was because there was an undiscovered gold vein that was left undiscovered. This reminds me of the early Gold Rush where they'd open up a new "cut" because they just felt like it had to have gold. Real miners drill core samples and let a geologist actually tell them where the gold is.

This ole Alaskan points out there are more gravel millionaires than there are gold mine millionaires in the USA - just saying ... “ might be some 4% gold in there .” At The cost of diesel you might as well leave it there until

Slowest workers I’ve ever seen...no wonder it took them till they are in their to 60-70s to be able to buy it.
  • That's what my partner and I did in our mine at Canyon City Oregon. We put our sets nect to each other and we had some old road grader blades that we drove into the sets we put in then used an old house jack to push the blades up and install moresets under them. It's called "spiraling".

"Well folks. We found all the gold ,however, the cost of all the lumber and steel set us back so much we now actually owe 650K."
  • This is like treasure of oak island or treasure of the superstitions nothing will be found.

Typical modern practice is to remove the old portal back to rock, then install ground support (bolts, straps, shotcrete) as required. Timbering is slow and expensive, there's a reason we don't use it much outside of specialized applications like chutes.

Always interested in more mining in USA. It does not have to be for gold or fossil fuels, but can be for other materials too. For example we can get material for batteries...
  • Get those guys out of there they're clueless as to what they're doing professional should be in the mine only
  • Don't disclose its location to Poopy pants (Joe Brandon) he'll make it mandatory for all of us to dip it out for his own personal gain! 🙄
  • @thisisshaun1

The Boomers of Bear Gulch: The Legend of Oldie's Gold I love this show, these guys are a complete joke. At this point, I think these guys have to be actors.

Sure are a lot of people on this thread who have probably never done any mining, but are full of opinions as to the way things should be done.

At the current prices as well as the potential increase, I am wondering if a geologist could give insight into the mines potential. Perhaps there are also other minerals worthy of recovery besides gold
