I feel like whenever there's color on screen, that means we're diving in to Amelie's imagination and dreams. That doesn't mean that the scene where she swings on the laundry lines are fake, it's just her filled with dreams and enthusiatism. So, in the ocean scene, we saw Nino float in a boat in the eye of a hurricane in search of Amelie. Let me remind you that this scene is fully in Amelie's imagination, which means she does think about Nino every time, and she's fully aware of him searching for her feverishly, as shown in the hurricane scene. Then why is Amelie running from Nino, even though she knew by heart that she loves him and he is miserably searching for her? (I didn't know much about the musical, this analysis is only based on the animatic, if anyone who knows better pls explain it to me, majestic animatic btw)

OH MY GOSH THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN I IMAGINED IT TO BE!!! You've opened up another layer to this song that I never realized it had. I mean, I've always felt that underneath all her wonder and love for life and making other people happy, she was afraid of hoping for the same for herself. Watching your animatic, especially in the dream sequence with her and Nino, I realized that this song is not just an exposition of her character; it could also be an I-want song! She's a dreamer, yes, but your interpretation showed me that she may not be as confident of a dreamer as she wants to be. It almost seems like she's convincing herself that, "Hey, you're fine where you are, as you are! You don't need anything or anyone more. You're perfectly fine on your own," even if, deep down, she really does long for company and something more. I've always related to Amelie very deeply, especially with this aspect of her that is so giving but is scared of receiving love from other people. I personally think that she feels disconnected from people and is content with being the masked mystery hero from the sidelines, but that she also wants to be seen and loved by someone. Maybe I'm projecting, but I think my interpretation isn't too far from yours so 😅 I thought I'd only see this level of nuance in "Halfway" and in "Stay," but you've proven that it already starts emerging in fits and bursts in this very exposition song. You made so many clever choices, I'm kinda reeling rn hahahaha Sorry this got so long hehehe I got quite carried away 😅 I'm just so floored by your creativity and artistic intuition and vision, I can't help but gush about it! Looking forward to more animatics from you! (and if you're thinking of making more Amelie content and need ideas, I'd actually really love to see you interpret "When the Booth Goes Bright" "Halfway" and "Stay", but only if you're up for it!) Thank you for this lovely content. It has made my week!
  • So glad I am learning about a London production of Amélie; the accent and just overall talent of this Amélie is so interesting. Also, fantastic art and direction as usual. Congrats on the collaboration/spon EDIT: I am terrible and fixed the accent on Amélie which originally I had wrong as Amelié. It’s right in the title, past me!

Genuinely something that was so stunning in this was the use of angles for the faces, the shear amount of them and the range of them were absolutely gorgeous. I also loved the small, minute details that so quickly pass by that reference the musical (and movie!) I hadn’t listened to this cast before, but I absolutely will now...anyway, this was stunning, you always somehow manage to out best perfection. The scenes of the zip lining on the laundry line and the boat (WITH HER CAT AS A SAILOR, IT WAS PERFECTION) were so beautiful!! The color palate was also gorgeous, they were so lovely, also like a children’s book, and that fits so well with the boat scene!

  • I think I have an obsession. I've rewatched your animations at least to the double digits because of how amazing and smooth they are. Having to put a lot of work into every frame makes it really special 💖💖💖 good job!

Miranda Pla has this way of making someone become thouroughly invested in the story of a musical with a single animatic. I genuinely hope the sponsorships keep going and she keeps showing youtube some great musicals.
