We continue this series by taking a look at our first ACLS algorithm, the cardiac arrest algorithm. This is the one that you will probably use most often and arguably the most important one. It will be imperative that you know this algorithm and be able to act quickly on the American Heart Association's (AHA) simplified approach to this emergency situation. While this is no replacement for certification, the hope is to provide a good resource for learning either before class, or in the 2 years in-between certification.

**Full disclosure that this video is NOT associated with the American Heart Association (AHA) and is merely a review of the information provided in their guidelines. Additional resources can be found at: cpr.heart.org/en/resuscitation-science/cpr-and-ecc…

  • As a nursing student with a code simulation tomorrow this video gives me so much confidence!!
  • @DeniseRene407
Awesome video! I will definitely be watching this a few more times. I really enjoyed going through the scenario at the end. I am a new grad starting a job as an RN in the ED soon and this is very helpful. Also, I literally laughed out loud when you said “The patient is not getting any deader. We want to slam this medication.”
  • I've been a med surg nurse for 5 years and have recently gone to critical care and I am doing my first ACLS certification. I really appreciate your videos. You walk through everything nicely so that I can stamp it in my brain. It has already proved helpful in codes I've been in recently. Thanks!
  • @EliMariIC
Loove that you provided a scenario at the end!!
  • I am a RN and a BLS Instructor. I recently took ACLS and your videos helped a ton! Hope to be an instructor soon!

I'm a nursing student and we have a Code Blue simulation this semester... This has been the best video over ACLS for Cardiac Arrest thus far! Thank you so much for this video!
  • @saiwaqa2573
I just experienced two cardiac arrests in three days and was brought back after one shock and one 2m CPR from each, im told. I don't remember much about them so I really enjoyed this video, thank you. Now i know what they actually did to bring me back.
  • @TheHeathercover
This was excellent! I love that you ran through the scenario like a quiz. So helpful!
