If anyone has a grandma that needs catching. Please let me know there location ASAP!!!!

this man’s commitment to avoiding almost any and all safety protocols is commendable

I like how you looked at an ants mandibles, something it uses to absolutely shred apart food, prey, or just about anything it doesn't like and thought "hmm, yes. The perfect non-lethal capture device for the elderly"
  • I'm going through welding school right now and I'm not 100% sure but galvanizing is putting Zinc on the metal to help it not rust and Zinc boils before steel melts, that's why its no good to do it without proper ventilation. That weird web might be the Zinc coating boiling but not fully evaporating, thus making the forbidden cotton candy.
  • Your ability to create new, dangerous equipment to harass your friends and random old people is truly impressive.

The white spider web stuff is the result of welding galvanized metal. It’s just burned zinc. And the reason you shouldn’t weld galvanized metal is not only that it puts off toxic gas but it also lets off small particles of zinc that are harmful to your lungs if you breathe them in. An N95 mask or a respirator and a well ventilated area will protect you from the fumes good enough that you shouldn’t have to worry about being harmed.

No idea if the old guy is homeless or not but I admire his spirit and admire you lads for being so wholesome even when designing brutal machines ❤

It's incredible how this mans concept of "do stupid shit barefoot" has led him to this much success. Keep it up bud!

It's always refreshing to see how smart people can use engineering to make the world a slightly worse place

My high school had a plasma cutter for the welding workshop. It wasn’t one u held in your hand tho. It was automated, on a table-like grid. You would input the values and dimensions of whatever you want it to cut, lay the metal out, and the plasma cutter would get to work. Was really cool watching it do its thing. Very precise tool it is.
  • I think you need to walk with the man catcher to a police station to convince them about this great invention.

The fact that this man still has all of his fingers and toes is a miracle
  • Getting rid of the claw is definitely an improvement, too much complexity just increases the chance of a fault and makes it heavier. As hard as it is to use, imagine how hard it would be if it was just as heavy but the mechanism jammed? No good, better off without it. However, the main flaw with just the crescent is that the curve is far too shallow. The way it seemed like you two kept getting out was by basically twisting it and then stepping past, but that wouldn't be possible if it was more of a semi-circle shape. That's how the ones used by Japanese police are designed, so it's obviously an effective design. I think cops should absolutely use them, because unlike a taser you can adjust the danger involved. A taser will put the same charge into an elderly woman with a weak heart as it will a 130kg biker fuelled by meth, but with a man catcher you can just be more gentle.

Instead of metal claws, use a loop of cable or rope on the end, kinda like a mechanical lasso. You could use an anti locking belay device or something similar so when you get the tension on the person you can lock it into place pretty easily. It'll be a tighter fit and work with more body types. You'll have to get it over someone's head but if you catch they're neck, arm, or leg it seems just as viabke. The whole loop idea just seems more versatile to me.
  • Lets give Cass a huge applause for being an absolute G and giving us an excellent insight into "age is just a number"

i love the idea that he just goes around and manages to get random old people and/or small children to help with his experiments
  • I grew up in a martial arts school and almost bought one of these man catchers from brenden lais martial arts supplies but they were selling the size this video must be based on but there is another one china/ India design in history almost identical just smaller like a limb/neck catcher. That’s the one that I kept trying to find as it was small enough to kata or perform with. This takes me back to the 70s
  • For the last 5 min section, asuming the same scenarios are in place (1v1 melee combat), I imagine the best strat for the man-catcher weilder would be to pin the agressor, but do not use your weight to keep them pinned, for the angle of leverage neccessary puts you in range of your flailing opponent. Rather manage as much leverage as you can, and if they try to escape, wait for them to be getring up and strike hard.
