I don’t understand all the judgmental negativity in the comments. If this is what you want to do and how you want to spend your time and money, then do it. It’s great that the option is available and refreshing to see people following a different path. Seeing the world while being able to return to your own bed at night sounds pretty exciting to me. Have fun! It’ll be an adventure that few get to experience.

Ocean view (obstructed or not) is a good compromise between balcony and inside. Good choice. To the people who think the cabin is too small, I say treat the cabin as your bedroom. The rest of the ship is your living/dining room. That's plenty of space to live. All the best with your adventure!
  • I can not understand all the negativity .. an experience of a lifetime to see the world, as a Palliative/Hospice nurse I never had any patient regret their adventures or travels in life but many that wished they had followed their dream and taken that risk, who cares if there is a lifeboat outside your window when sailing to your next port. Life is too short to worry about laundry.. life is for living .. I will be watching ..xx

My family and I have gone on several cruises and have always enjoyed ourselves. While I could never afford to do what you and your wife are doing, I applaud your sense of adventure. I would jump at the opportunity in a heartbeat. I just want to add something to all the naysayers out there. I just recently placed my dad and stepmom in an assisted living home. Their mini apartment is not much bigger than an Odyssey cabin and they are paying over 7K a month. No adventure, a sidewalk view, and no memories. Money is not their current biggest regret. I truly believe life is worth living while you can. Saving your money just so you can be housed later in a home or to save it to pass it on to someone else is more sad than taking a risk to do something exciting. You only get one go around in life. May as well live it up. I wish the best of luck to you both and look forward to living vicariously through your travels.

This is so interesting — I didn’t know things like this existed. It’s not for me, but I love seeing people enjoying life and living their dreams. Have a wonderful adventure!! 🎉

People are so quick to give negative opinions, projecting their own feelings onto someone else’s choices in life, as opposed to just being happy and excited for them on THEIR chosen path. It’s a small cabin but that doesn’t equal a small life, far from it as far as I can tell. All the best in your adventures and I’m sure you will do an excellent job of letting the negative remarks wash right over you. Looking forward to your vlogs 🥰

While the cabin may be "cosy" with an obstructed view, never having to cook and clean again certainly makes up for it. My biggest problem cruising was gaining weight and chronic adjustment disorder after returning home. You'll have so much fun!
  • We have cruised over 36 times and found that we spend very little time in the cabin. That size would work for us. Wish I were going too!

Just because something isn't for you, it doesn't make it wrong. Not for me but I will enjoy following your adventure!
  • We are so lucky that we live in times where people can live on a ship or live in an RV or a tiny house or a cave. We all have an opportunity to live the way we want hopefully. Congratulations to you for taking a really big and brave step!
  • Good for you!!! Adventure is not for everyone, as evidenced in some rude comments. I get it, though. I talked my hubs into selling our house in the gated community & buying acreage in the middle of the woods. With everything in storage, we popped a tent. Then built a shed. We didn’t many people because we didn’t want to hear opinions & unsolicited advice. 5 years later, we do have a house now but the adventure in getting here was priceless. I’m jealous of you guys (in a good way). Happy sailing! 😊
  • Hey ignore the haters, well done to you for doing something different, it’s your life not theirs.

So exciting! I wish I could move onto the Odyssey 👏😀 What a great choice, the experience will be so worth it!

What an exciting adventure. Ignore the negative comments. If its what you want, it will work for you. I have a small house on desert acerage. My husband built the house, but has passed away. My brother also lived in his RV trailer for 29 years. He helped with what needed to be done. Now am navigating this on my own, as he recently passed, and no family lives near me. Its always something, no matter where you live. We had more weeds up to 5 feet tall than ever before in 40 years. A lot of rain winter and spring. Finding weed abatement has been tough, as few companies and they are very busy. Plus expensive, $175 per hour. Clearing over a 2acre yard is daunting especially at almost 79. Everyone says move, but my husbabd and son built this house. I couldn't afford to rent. So I pay my money and take my chances. Good luck to you both. Sounds like a great advanture. Will be following you.

What a wonderful way to travel around the world and enjoy your retirement. I sincerely hope you two create many happy memories together on this adventure! ❤

I would keep at least one pull down bed. It would be good for storage especially your luggage. It is interesting that the speech at the end of the video, I am guessing the owners of the boat thought it would be a good idea to have a lot of work undone but yet have people move in. How can you not have generators, air conditioners and laundry facilities with occupants on board. Everyone has their tolerances and limitations they accept. Not for me after seeing the size and condition of the cabin. Nice view of the lifeboat
  • @carolroyal9289
I had no clue you can buy a cabin on a cruise ship!!! That's awesome!!
  • @byrninrubber
I don't think I'd enjoy the lack of a balcony and the view of that life boat for very long, but to each their own and I hope they enjoy their experience.
