Highly mutated COVID-19 variant found in at least 10 states

A new and highly mutated strain of COVID-19 has been detected in at least ten states, but for now, the strain is rare, accounting for just a small fraction of new COVID cases nationwide. Dr. Bob Lahita, director of the Institute for Autoimmune and Rheumatic Diseases at Saint Joseph Health in Saddle River, New Jersey, joined CBS News to discuss the new variant.

    Everyone's been exposed or had COVID? No, not everyone. I've never had it or been around anyone who had it. My mom is immunocompromised and over 65 so I've always been very careful since she lives with me.

    I took three COVID tests when I got really sick during the pandemic phase, and got a Pos-Neg-Neg. I took a fourth test and it came up Pos, so I have no faith in the testing. I just stayed home sick for two weeks until I got better. I've had two antibody tests, given by my pcp, and got a neg and pos. The new vaccination wasn't made for this new strain, or any other mutations that come after, so I don't have much faith in it. Seems like the care isn't able to keep up with the changing nature of the virus. Seems like the drugs are always one variant too late.

    I had this variant two weeks ago and it was hell. The body aches were intense for 3 days straight. Its crazy because my baby girl had it first and passed it on to me from school so I’m sad to know that my LO was in pain as well. Stay safe all and build your immune system to prevent this bug.

    I travelled to Texas and when I got back I was so sick (I’m on day 6 now) tested positive for COVID. My first time ever getting it. Not fun 😢

    No one cares anymore. We aren’t getting shots. I got the first two shots and well they don’t matter now. 😅
