Imagine being in 2005 and popping this album into your CD player for the first time and being blasted by this off-the-rails banger. What an incredible experience that must be.

The Rev........... taken from this world far too soon. One of the all time greatest drummers. So much passion. So much talent. Absolutely legendary. Rest in peace.

Beast and Harlot, Bat Country, and M.I.A. City of Evil is just simply the best
  • This shining city built of gold, a far cry from innocence There's more than meets the eye round here look to the waters of the deep A city of evil There sat a seven-headed beast, ten horns raised from his heads Symbolic woman sits on his throne, but hatred strips her and leaves her naked The Beast and the Harlot She's a dwelling place for demons, she's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy bird And makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicate with our kings Fallen now is Babylon the Great The city dressed in jewels and gold, fine linen, Myrrh and pearls Her plagues will come all at once as her mourners watch her burn Destroyed in an hour Merchants and captains of the world, sailors, navigators too Will weep and mourn this loss with her sins piled to the sky The Beast and the Harlot She's a dwelling place for demons, she's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy bird And makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicate with our kings Fallen now is Babylon the Great The day has come for all us sinners If you'r enot a servant you'll be struck to the ground Flee the burning, greedy city looking back on her to see there's nothin' around I don't believe in fairy tales And no one wants to go to Hell You made the wrong decision And it's easy to see Now if you want to serve above or be a king below with us You're welcome to the city where your future is set forever She's a dwelling place for demons, she's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy bird And makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicate with our kings Fallen now is Babylon the Great She's a dwelling place for demons, she's a cage for every unclean spirit, every filthy bird And makes us drink the poisoned wine to fornicate with our kings Fallen now is Babylon the Great

This album is such a masterpiece, and this song is too! Epic guitar riffs, cool lyrics, and, of course, Matt’s awesome singing voice! That’s all I could ask for.

I miss the Rev, sadly he's why I became a drummer and he's my inspiration but I'll never meet him... One day I will

Im kinda shocked that NO ONE has mentioned—maybe even realized that they are LITERALLY just quoting Revelation 17 verbatim in the New Testament of the Bible. I’m not trying to be religious but I thought people might like to know the context of this epic song as far as lyrics go. Basically the book of Revelation is very symbolic. But this particular chapter talks about a “Mystery Babylon” I think most modern biblical scholars would say that Mystery Babylon is a reference to a coming future empire that is worse than the nazis. The antichrist Empire. Not saying thats true. Just saying thats generally the context as far as Revelation goes. Hope that helps.

I have always loved this fucking song. This is what happens when you just write a song about a story somebody made up in the past instead of basing your entire life on it.
