The 2023 BMW M4 CSL ($166,500 starting in Canada, $140,895 starting in the US) is both exclusive and expensive - meaning expectations are high. Limited to only 1000 units, and with a price tag that lands you in some pretty serious waters among competitors, this ultra-lightweight, beefed-up, track-focused M4 aims to stand out from the crowd and honour the legendary CSL nameplate.

It has 40 more horsepower and weighs 239 lb less than the current generation M4 Competition. It also has a stiffer chassis and no rear seats for extra weight savings. But does it live up to its mighty price tag? Thomas and James determine if this is a true CSL and one of the BMW greats or simply an overpriced sports sedan with a flashy persona. We hope you enjoy the episode. Thanks for watching! SUBSCRIBE!

For that price tag ,this car is going to be garage queen for most of the rich buyers

I love how James is progressively becoming a better driver

Many thanks, to the editor(s) for the Metric to Imperial conversions. Great job by the whole team. Very entertaining, informative, and all-around great video, as usual.

I really appreciate the color correction, and how true-to-life the colors are, big applause to the editors, cameramen, and of course James and Thomas (cuz without the cast, there is no show)
  • When thomas Said ”it’s drivnin’ time” i just fell to my knees and started sobbing, truly a national treasure level of video only fit for gods

The production value of Throttle House videos is just insanely good. Congrats to the videographer & editor, you are total pros.
  • Your reviews are awesome guys! I love the fact you're Canadian and from Ontario too. Keep up the great job!
  • am I stupid or is the csl with 1.08.64 slower than the zr1 with 1.08.59? Because I think they mixed up the leaderboard at 14:37

This review nails most people’s thoughts - the M4 CSL is just not special enough. Limited in production numbers doesn’t make it more special, it just makes it rarer and appeals to the people that look at cars as investments. It’s like playing Pokémon red/blue and finding a wild Porygon - rare, but no one wants one to fight with. My money easily goes to a used R8, or saving a bit more for a new winged 992 GT3 which is what I’ve opted for as a G80 M3 owner. Amazing video as usual!
  • i’m new to your channel and i really gotta say THANK YOU SO MUCH for making great content. Ever since the OG top gear UK ended, and now that grand tour only does specials, this channel has been filling that void that TG left, that the current Top Gear US and UK just can’t really fill. you guys are awesome!! keep it up!
  • @sparkyboots
Awesome as usual guys. Would love to see all the cars you review do launches from a dig! An outside perspective. Keep up the good work!
