Something that non-Japanese-speakers won't notice about the song is how messy the lyrics are. Some words blend together and others are pronounced wrong. By the time the character is pushed into using this song, her physical health and mental state are at a breaking point. She's lost all of her sweet, jovial bounce and idol's charm and the only thing left is agony, desperation, and bitterness. The only smiles left are manic and vicious, wide-eyed with madness. The words are slurred - she's broken to the soul with one foot in the grave.

Uta’s English voice actress, Amalee did a phenomenal job with her cover of this song as well. They didn’t dub the songs in English for the movie, but she did her own covers here on YouTube.

Thank you. I watched this movie in a theatre with high quality speakers. It was an insane unforgettable experience. I fell in love with Ado ever since. This particular album is 10/10. All songs are incredible.

I would definitely recommend Fleeting lullaby as the next Film Red Ado song to listen to. It’s quite different from this but still an amazing piece of music

Ado is self- taught and started out recording and uploading covers from her closet which is even more incredible.

The song is a song of destruction, and the characters in the movie try to destroy the world by singing it I think Ado played the song perfectly.

Fun fact: she was 19 when she sang this. Also a few things to note about the Film Red songs: 1. There is a live performance of the signature song New Genesis 2. There is an eighth song in her album, which is a cover song of a sea shanty named Bink’s Sake, which is nice because she started off as a cover artist and is mostly self trained

Finally someone mentions the end part😭 It’s my favorite part but no one mentions it. Also I just love having someone explain all the things I love about Ado’s songs😂 For Film RED songs Fleeting Lullaby, Backlight, or The World’s Continuation have all have interesting vocals that I’d like to see examined

There really never is ever too much Ado, I can't get enough! Another song you should totally check out from the movie (you really should do all of them) is "Fleeting Lullaby". That one song could be Ado's portfolio because she swaps between like 5 different music styles all in one song!

Even the first "runic" verse and she already speechless. That's how great Ado's singing is!

You hit the nail on the head - Ado really does understand the importance of the onset of the song, and she always starts her songs INCREDIBLY so that you're captivated! If you haven't heard Ready Steady, she features two other singers in that cover and it's incredible - lots of different vocal styles and tones. Also...I learn so much about vocal performances from you! Your explanations are so clear and easy for us to understand, especially when you use your own voice to provide examples. I've learned to identify these techniques in performances now! :)

This song is how i found out about ado, at the time i didn't even start one piece, and didn't (and still don't really) know anything about jpop, i was just with some friends and one of them played the song and i just couldn't believe the powerful yet beautiful voice i was hearing. Now ado is one of my favourite singers and inspirations

Please go with As The Wind Blows, it's quite a challenge for Ado, who said it herself that singing ballads was not easy for her. Would be great if you analyzed how different her singing is usually to that song.
