When Falcon Heavy lifted off, it became the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. With the ability to lift into orbit nearly 64 metric tons (141,000 lb)---a mass greater than a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel--Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost.

Following liftoff, the two side boosters separated from the center core and returned to landing site for future reuse.

Falcon Heavy put a Tesla Roadster and its passenger, Starman, into orbit around the sun. At max velocity Starman and the Roadster will travel 11 km/s (7mi/s) and travel 400 million km (250 million mi) from Earth.

1968: I bet we’ll have flying cars in the future. 2018: We actually do have flying cars now

The most powerful tag one can create, "Made on Earth by Humans".

When it said made on earth by humans it sent chills down my spine.

The twin boosters landing is still to this day the most amazing thing I've ever seen

For a bunch of discount orangutans, we've come a long way.

Let's be honest. No other company is willing to say "Hold my beer" At the level that SpaceX can.

Those boosters landing is the most powerful feat of technology I've ever witnessed.

I wish David Bowie could have seen this :(((

What I love about spacex is that they aren't afraid to talk about their mistakes. The fact that they showed the failure to land the core booster just shows that they know that they can always do better.
  • Stuff: •It says "Don't panic" on the dash •There's a hot wheels Tesla Roadster on the dash's centre. •It has all the engineers' signatures that worked on the FH on the battery •Obviously, he's named Starman (David Bowie reference. ). - also reminds me of Stig.
  • 1:45 The shot that gets me the most. Look how beautiful, and precious our planet is from this view. Look at its smallness. The horizon, the clouds, and thats where all 7.8 billion of us are right now. Truly beautiful.

I was there at that historic event I quit my job for it, because they would not give me time off. I would recommend to everyone to go see when they lanch the next one. It is truly life changing and a feeling of ecstasy to see something that tectonic, and beautiful sour through the air in real life.

For some reason the most beautiful part of this video for me was the footage of the centre core crashing into that drone ship. The fact that Space X are open enough to share that footage in a promotional video just shows me how strong and genuine this company is... All the way down to its core
  • I’ve watched this launch countless amount of times and it never ceases to give me goosebumps. This video decided it was going to make me tearful just through how spectacular this achievement was
  • @AstronautX52
I was 8 years old when this happened, i couldn't stop watching this video, i really love everything about space and space companies
