    It helps if you understand what the Airbus design team were trying to achieve. 1980s tech produced a lot of heat that had to be kept within a narrow temperature band to function properly. They were desperate to ensure that it would function correctly within the large temperature range experienced by operators around the world. This is why the system is phenomenally over -engineered.

    Many thanks, definitely much easier to understand the various configs this way rather than trying to read it in the FCOM. I do find the naming of the valves a little counter-intuitive though. In the diagrams it looks more like the Skin Exch Outlet Bypass Valve lets air "IN" from the AVNCS Bay and the Skin Exch Inlet Bypass Valve lets air "OUT" through the cargo bay. Have I misunderstood their function? Cheers.

    Hi thanks for the video mate, really useful. I had a question about the smoke configuration. What happens if we have smoke detected in the avionic's bay? Would the skin exchange outlet bypass valve open up automatically? The smoke config diagram from the FCOM just assumes that smoke is coming from the avionics equipment...
