Crash Course on the most popular Metroid villains. Mother Brain: A Super Computer out to bring peace to the galaxy in the coldest, and violent way possible. Teaming up with the Space Pirated. (They're more like Intergalactic Terrorists.) Ridley: Space Pirate Commander is an understatement. He's befitting of his nickname. The Cunning God of Death. He's responsible for unintentionally putting Samus down the path of becoming the galaxy's greatest bounty hunter/space explorer. Metroids: Created by the Chozo. (Who also made Samus's armor.) Were made to eliminate the X parasites. More on them later. Metroids have an eight stage life cycle. Egg, Infant, Larva, Alpha, Gamma, Zeta, and Omega, and Queen. Dark Samus: Metroid Prime tore off Samus's Phazon Suit at the end of the first Prime game. Dark Samus is similar to the SA-X (again. More on that later.) Where it is an evil copy of Samus that is terrifyingly powerful. Dark Samus is hell bent on spreading phazon everywhere and having just a grand old time doing it. X Parasites and SA-X: The X are gelatinous flying parasites that can copy any biological lifeforms and potentially make them even stronger. These parasites were discovered on SR388 where the Chozo created the Metroids. The parasites were eventually wiped out and lead the metroids to discover they could grow and evolve. The SA-X is the result of an X latching onto Samus and mimicking her suit at full power. (Minus the Gravity Suit.) And is without question the scariest thing in Metroid. Period.
