In this Dog Nation video, I help a couple who rescued a badly burned dog to achieve an incredible goal to be a therapy dog for burn survivors.

Fergus, a golden retriever, has leash aggression. He barks at other dogs on the leash as well as pulls. He lunges aggressively on the walk and leads the owners.

It important to keep him in a follower state!

Can I help this couple solve this problem in order to become a therapy dog!

I have been watching you for over a decade now. You are fantastic Cesar
  • These owners are way more receptive and good at following directions for once. They actually knew how to stay relaxed. I hope Fergus does really well as a therapy dog in the future.

It’s for sure easy for Cesar at the beginning because dogs can sense his strong energy and after that, it is all about the owners … it’s not about training the dogs, it’s about coaching the owners the right methods 😅☺️

This is what makes animals amazing, people can treat them so terribly bad and YET they still find it to be friendly 😢😢😮

Cesar: "i'm gonna do something that he's ready for, not you" lololololol savage while teaching and demonstrating calmly, gold.
  • I did a burns icu rotation at LAC for clinicals when I was in nursing school last fall so this made me really happy to see this and how the patients lit up when Fergus was with them 😭

Burns are so horribly painful. Everyone that helps work victims, from doctors, nurses, therapist and the survivors themselves that work to move on... I wish I could send you anything to make your lives better. I'm not sure if prayers or blessing are enough or a cliché but you have all my respect.

Good boy, Fergus ! You can see right away that he can now relax and follow. And what a heartwarming video about the power of love and healing a dog can bring into our lives. His owners are doing a great job with him, too.

Hi Cesar! I don't know if you will read this comment but I just want send you my sincere thanks for showing us how to better understand our dogs. Because of your dedication you inspired me to become a dog trainer myself and spread your methods to as many people as I can. Thank you so much for helping me find my purpose for not just me but for my dogs as well!
  • What a great story. The owners had a great idea which not only benefits the patients and Fergus, but the owners as well. Everything should work so nice in the world as this story.

Being a dog trainer myself, I know and understand your views and approaches. As is almost always the case, it is the problem at the other end of the collar. If people understood that a dog was a dog and they were the leader of the pack, they were not their father or mother, and gave them clear boundaries, it would be much better and easier for everyone! Then to see something like this again makes my heart happy!! Greetings from Austria 🇱🇻
