Sonic's been no stranger to a lack of care and quality. Sonic Boom, Sonic 06, Sonic Forces, the list goes on. But what happens when it's not just the new games? What happens when they somehow screw up a rerelease?
You get a very angry RadicalSoda, that's what.
Join me on a journey to discover why SEGAs constant uncaring attitude they have towards Sonic has led me to the point where my hopes for the future have completely vanished. I've given up on Sonic.

"At least Pokemon functions." Really feels like ominous foreshadowing in hindsight

Fun Fact, My gameplay programming Professor actually worked on Colours Ultimate, and I was able to ask for a little bit of insight about the process of creating the game! he himself was not apart of the gameplay sector to my knowledge, he was in the Sr. development team, but I still learned a couple of things that I felt would just be cool to share as a thing of insight: - For starters, the game was, of course, not made in Unity or Unreal engine. this means that they didn't have an engine that let them easily transfer settings, mechanics or controls to different systems, so a lot more effort and re-development was needed in order to have them work on different platforms. - Another issue the game faced in development was because of the Wii itself. the Wii was a single-threaded machine, so the original sonic colours was made specifically to operate under that one computer thread. however, the systems that the game was ported towards were not single-threaded systems, but rather multi-threaded systems. as a result, they had to completely rework timings and systems to have that thread transition work properly. - lastly is the Framework the game was originally built on. as an example for the Xbox version of the game; it uses microsoft's DirectX framework, but the Wii uses a very old system framework which is....incompatable with DirectX, to say the least. as a result, they had to emulate the Wii's system framework within the DirectX framework...which as he even said caused a couple of problems later down the line. not trying to defend the state it was released in, but I figured I would lend a wee bit of insight to the process, since I think it's a travesty that a vast majority of players don't know what happens behind the scenes. and no, I will not be giving names or locations, because I am not trying to dox myself.
  • RadicalSoda- I give you the completely bastardized Sonic Game Sonic Fans- which one???
  • 53:19 Good lord, that scream was so intense you'd think he's in a horror movie and the monster is sprinting at him.
  • The audiophile joke is one of my favorite moments. Really captures rads and bears comedic dynamic

13:15 The “Who the hell is this?” From Bear Grylls is so fuckin perfectly timed and delivered it absolutely kills me every time
  • @teaa_x
“it’s sonic colours” is a really good way to sum this up, fucking up a rerelease of a wii game THIS BADLY is so astronomically difficult that it’s almost impressive.
  • @LateNightHalo
I think it’s worth mentioning that Sonic colors ultimate was not actually fixed. It’s still a technical mess. Sega basically dumped it, fixed only a couple of critical bugs and then abandoned it.
  • @Byrnzi360
This game is going to be torn apart isn’t it? 4 minutes in: The reflection on the main menu screen isn’t even timed correctly Hold on to your butts.
  • @SorosPhuvix
The first time watching this through, I didn't realize that Sam's face changed when the game crashed and deleted the save data. 52:09 We love to see the attention to detail.
  • @lordprime25
I hate how people defend this “Remaster” by saying that a 3rd party worked on it and not Sonic Team or Sega themselves. BUT IT’S STILL THEIR FAULT THAT THEY TRUSTED THEM WITHOUT LOOKING OVER THE DEVELOPMENT
  • "Sega stands for shittly engineered games!" "I see... wait where's the A?" "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" "Oh, there it is."
  • “I’ll be getting to BDSP someday.” Oh I’m freaking ready for RadicalSoda to tear BDSP into innumerable pieces.

There is a phrase known in the corporate world as "minimum viable product." This game is that phrase given form.
  • Bro the deliberately bastardized vids you do are like comedy movies yet so incredibly informative and well analyzed. That's a tough balance to find. Fucking love this channel
  • @Danominator
Unlike Sonic Colors "Ultimate" I have no problem with supporting this RadicalSoda re-release. Long live Poppy, queen of thumbnails
  • I don't know what's more depressing The fact that I got the nintendo switch version of the game or that I paid $5 more for the digital deluxe edition to get some cosmetics
