In this masterclass YOU will learn how to play jazz blues. The tune I've chosen is "Blues in the Night". We'll play it like a slow blues, like Oscar Peterson. I'll show you some of his and my signature licks.

I MAY HAVE A FEW SURPRISES FOR YOU. Will you be there?

great master class. Particularly enjoyed the crunchy block chords. And the Oscar Peterson solo at the end

Truly amaaazing content. Great tips re: classic blues/jazz vocabulary, "jazzing" it up and comping. All FREE. But honestly, it's worth tuning in just to listen to you solo... ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽถ๐ŸคฏThanks Paul.

Great class, thank you for sheet music! I notice you have an Ab in the melody on the first bar, but the lead sheets Iโ€™ve seen have an A natural. I realize a major 7th on a one chord in blues would unusual. Iโ€™m just wondering if itโ€™s a personal choice. Either way I love your playing and arrangement. Thanks Paul!

Thank you. I cant tell you how many white guys playing blues in a Jam session can't use these kind of skills in a Blues guitar jam setting. Something I would always encourage in between standard One, four five changes and straight ahead 4/4 blues. Using ,two five changes and going to a triple beat figure for solos always livens up a good blues tune.

Hello Paul A wonderful presentation of Blues jazz harmony, thank you very much, but let me point out that there is no translation, which is very sad. Kind regards.

The insight that you share from your years of playing jazz is invaluable knowledge and much appreciated. Your reflections go well T beyond the "X's and O's" of theory, and I'm a person that is fascinated by theory and how music works! Thank you for what you do.
  • I would like to ask, is there any chance I can get the sheet music, I missed the chance to download it earlier, while whatching the live, thanks a lot again! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ™Œ๐ŸŽน
  • Thank you so much! This was a great stuff ๐Ÿ˜Š I wish if it is possible next time if you can talk a bit more the left hand playing, like I see you mix kind of walking bass with strides, or broken stride, like I heard someone else mentioned this in their tutorial, but never got deeper into this. I see you use this kind of technique/playing in your improvisation in the end of the live session. Hope you understand what I meant and sorry, I am not a native english speaker ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • I don't get the chat and I had medical issues and missed the class but I am subbed. Would it be possible to get the sheet music. I am working on the bebop exercise it's great! Thanks! Steve
