Subaru introduced the third generation of its Imprezas in late 2007 as a hatchback for the first time. This was later complemented by a sedan and the WRX and WRX Sti versions were available in both body styles, but the hatchback version (GR) was way more common in rallying. Here's my compilation video from GR Imprezas during the last decade in Europe and Australia.
