  • I believed this method when I saw the plant topple over and fall. Thanks for not editing that out. Iโ€™m not as clumsy as I thought

Nice video. In my experience with succulents in general, you should allow leaves and cuttings to sit out in the air for a few days before planting. This allows for the cut end to scab over and helps them not to rot. When I've tried planting right away, I get up to 50% loss due to rot.
  • It would be cool if you would show how they look after a couple of weeks. By the way, in the name of my plants and my own, I thank you for this channel. It's great!
  • @patruff3000
I make holes in soil with a chopstick so stems and cuttings fit in snugly. Wiggle it around a bit if you need to increase the hole size. Great for when youโ€™re adding rooted stem in an existing plant to make it fuller. ๐Ÿ˜Š

You do not have to cut it because they have they have the potential to grow into a small tree. I have a Mexican flame succulent that grew into a tree in several years and it has clusters of leaves coming out of branches that is quite stunning.

I have started to repot mine into hanging baskets. As the stems get longer, the head starts to grow downward. Then the bare stem starts to grow baby plants.

I like this video. I was laughing seeing you struggling with the tiny pot and trying not to touch the leaves of the big succulent but later giving up and pushing down the plant from its top! Soooo funny.
  • @fitrockx
I was about to throw away the same plant and somehow YouTube recommended this video. This just saved my life and my plant as well hahaha thank you!!!
  • Thank god I found this I have so many leggy succulents and was wondering how to fix them/propagate them (I knew it was possible but didn't know how).
  • @anticlickbait
Oh I skipped a heartbeat when it fell ๐Ÿ˜…. This was a very guiding video. Mine is getting long leggy too. Thanks โ˜บ๏ธ
  • perfect - it wasnโ€™t high on my priorities to fix so hadnโ€™t looked for an answer - and along you come with the cavalry!
  • I would love to see an update of this video concerning how the succulentbase that was cut, and the pulled off leaves were doing afterwards, and if they grew into plants.
  • @SIowpoke
Him: After this video I will end up with 2 succulents. Ends up with 8. Win-Win!
  • @subyouwont
Never saw someone angle their leaf cuttings before, Iโ€™ll try that! I have a plate of dirt where I just lay them on, about a 35% success rate with rosettes, 70% with roots
  • @nabilalbert3661
well I did it in a different way. I cut & put it in water when it gave me roots. I transplanted in into a pot, which gave me a good & healthy Plant. I hope it helps
  • @glow1815
I have a couple looking worst then yours lol. Every morning when I water my plants i always stood and look at it wondering what i can do, glad I run into this video of yours. Even I've watched manu if your recent videos. Now I know what to do. What I would do is use a tweeter to push the stem down. Thanks for the infor!

Iโ€™m in Midwest and have quickly learned succulents hate it here lol. I kept trying to put mine outside for the full sun, and then a sudden downpour would happen. Meanwhile, Iโ€™d suddenly be RUNNING out into the storm to get my babiesโ€ฆ.. soaked by the rains. :โ€ฆ( So far, I havenโ€™t been able to grow any dang potted succulent outdoors for this reason. Sister just gave me some of this sedum, fingers crossed that it goes better ๐Ÿ™
