Why I stop sleeping on beds and went to the floor instead

I used to love sleeping on soft beds where I would feel like I’m on a cloud, the fluffier the better. About 10 years ago as I shared in the video, I came to the realization that something was wrong with my body. I wasn’t able to sit, or lay on the ground without pain. From that day on, I decided to get rid of my bed and start sleeping on the ground. My first step to that was sleeping on a whole bunch of blankets because I kept tossing and turning all night when I just try sleeping on the carpet.

The more my body got accustomed to being in contact with hard surfaces, the stronger it got. The reason, because when we press against hard surfaces, it pushes into our physical body, allowing our body to release, blockages, tension, and trapped energies just like if you were to go to a massage therapist, who’s doing the same thing with your body or using a foam roller or any other equipment or device that presses into your body. It’s exactly the same concept. The advantage of sleeping on hard surfaces is that you get to give your body longer duration of massage and you don’t depend on anybody else. The biggest advice I can give to this is take time to transition from soft to firm. If you don’t, you’re gonna find it too uncomfortable to maintain and you’ll go back into sleeping on something soft. My best recommendation is buying mattress toppers that are about 3 inches. This can be latex or memory foam. My personal preference is having it to be 2 inches max or 1 inch. However, keep in mind that I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and my body has adapted over time.

This is not a quick fix type of solution. These things that I share like walking, barefoot or sleeping on hard surfaces is a lifestyle, a way of living. When people ask me, how do I become as healthy or as energetics as you or they look and wonder why I have so much energy all the time it’s not just one thing. It’s a combination of this lifestyle that I’ve created for my life.

Shot in single take. Tired of fancy editing and graphics in every video these days. Such a simple honest message. Good on you man.

I noticed this a few years ago and the best way I described it is; "Beds are soft, so it makes us hard & ridgid. The floor is hard, so it makes us soft & flexible."

Felling well sleeping on the ground is the greatest gift ever because anywhere I go I have my most comfortable place I can rely on.
  • I discovered sleeping on the floor by accident, I just didn’t have a bed 😂 It’s been 10 years. I have my 4 and 5 year old daughters sleep on the floor as well. People think I’m crazy, but being a misfit is a complement in a world of sheep
  • I've been floor sleeping for 3-4 years to treat a back injury. Highly recommend it. It's a bit rough in the beginning but your body will adjust.

I've been sleeping on the floor since I watch this video two months ago, and it relieved all of my back pain from my scoliosis.

I stopped using a pillow, and my neck pains of 30 years disappeared with a violent pop at 2 in the morning. It was amazing

I remember when this guy was six-pack shortcuts, this randomly came up in my feed and its crazy to see him now , looks a lot wiser. Nice to see him still doing his thing and providing value to people.

Please folks remember your body conducts moisture and oil into whatever you sleep on. Also “on the floor” should mean you have a mat, like tatami, that helps prevent mold and mildew from accumulating under your sleeping space. Regularly wash and dry well whatever you sleep on. Health is both internal and external.

I have one of the most comfortable beds ever. Dropped $3,600 just in the mattress alone. My girl asked me why i like to sleep randomly on the hard floor, nothing under me other than the carpet in the living room. I told her because for some reason i like it and i feel like i wake up with less pain. So, i never gave it much thought but seeing you feel the same way i do, i think you're onto something. What else i thought was interesting is i too an a bodybuilder and an ex mma fighter. So considered myself a very tough guy as well. I just don't like waking up with pain when sleeping on a mattress all the time. If you think about it from a nature perspective, we are not naturally supposed to have mattresses to sleep on. We should be sleeping on the ground, or a pile of leaves and brush. Making contact with the earth. Which also brings up the thought process behind the videos saying you should walk on the ground barefoot sometimes because of all the healing and other crazy things that supposedly goes on in your body when making contact with the earth the way we were designed to do. Interesting topic to look into if you never have.
  • My youngest brother has slept on the floor for years and we all thought he was crazy. Turns out he’s smarter than us all! So interesting. I want to try it now. Thank you for sharing!

This story is badass. “Being on the ground hurt, so I set out to defeat the ground. I won.”
  • This is normal to me. Even sitting on the floor while eating or just relaxing while sleeping on the floor. Much love from Kenya
  • Thanks Mike for your informative videos. They are really good. At age 60 I was homeless during the fall of '13 and winter of '13-'14 for 5 straight months. I slept in sub-freezing nights with a 0 degree rated sleeping bag on a thin mat on top of hard concrete. I had no problems and slept like a baby. Thankfully, I my health was good and my body was strong and lean at 5-11 and 170 pounds. So your advice held true for me sleeping on hard concrete. Thanks again.

I started sleeping on the floor 18 years ago. I love it and will never go back to a king size mattress. ... ever. I know so many people who can not get up and down from the floor. I have always sat and lay on the ground. An underrated benefit of floor dwelling is the closeness of children and pets eye contact. Truly, an amazing life secret.

Before I got a bed after moving into a new home I slept on the carpet floor with a bedsheet underneath. It was kinda uncomfortable falling asleep at first, but over time I got used to it and felt more energized when I woke up. It's 100 times easier to not hit snooze on your alarm when you sleep on the floor. Can definitely vouch for this video. Also I enjoyed watching this man flipping on the floor

Thanks for giving me the reason why my intuition is pointing me to sleep without a bed. ❤❤❤

How our ancestors slept many years ago. Ever noticed how you sleep 10x better when you rest in a tent, because you are naturally being grounded by the cores surface. Very true my friend, great video. ❤
