Winspace Lún HYPER 23 SE R45 carbon road bike wheelset

Published 2024-01-03
I can’t thank enough ‪@WinspaceBikes‬ to have sent me this set of Lún HYPER 23 SE R45 wheels. These were my upgrade choice moving from my Prime RR-50 V3 to further reduce the weight of my Canyon Ultimate.

Check out the excellent videos from ‪@PeakTorque‬ and ‪@Hambini‬ to have a comprehensive review of the technical aspects. I will try to contribute with my own experience and perspective on these wheels.

In the cycling clips I’m wearing kit courtesy of Siroko Cycling. If you wish to shop for Siroko kit you can use my link to get an extra 10% discount automatically added to the existing discounts. No need to enter other codes, following the link the prices shown will be reduced. Thank you!

Just go my D45s in the mail. Can't wait to unbox them. Great video kind sir!
  • Bravo 👏 Fede !!!! Nice to see the canyon coming along great weight btw . I had a go on a friends bike with carbon spokes !!! My word the wheels are as stiff as hell but it really gives the feeling that you’re on rails when cornering. 28 c is the way to go I think Fede the holy trinity speed, comfort & grip . Looking forward to your appraisal after after a few miles . Keep the good work and get the silver Velobuild up & running 👍🏽💪🏾

Nice they’ve sent you a pair! I ride 25mm up front, 28mm in the back (Enve 5.6) with latex inner tubes. Comfortable and aero imo. Enjoy your light beast 👍

Wider rims is the ability to less pression. I am 75 kgs and i ride these wheels with 5bars with gp5000 in 25. Confort in any condition and no puncture ! Thanks for your videos and congrats for your bike ! 😊

  • @AnteUp34
They look awesome Fede 😎 im so happy for you. I also dont ride tubeless, oldschool forever.

I just got these exact wheels. I mounted 25mm Contis and after one ride I ordered 28s. Carbon spokes are a lot harsher than I expected. I'm looking forward to the weather improving enough to try out the 28s. The wheels are crazy-stiff and fast on accelerations and hill climbing. Better in that regard than I expected. Can't wait to get out on them some more!

I think i recomended those to you in the past. I have hypers 38 rim since end of 2020. In 3 years they ran 70k km, snd i renewed them with new hubs. Stil runs true and good

Fed, Happy New Year and thank you for all your efforts. Nice review. Do you know of any similar carbon rim brake wheels with a shallower dish, that you would recommend? I’m in Sydney and we regularly get >20kn summer breezes which make my Roval 50s hairy to ride on broken and potholed main roads that make UK B roads feel like air cushions. I’m looking for something not as wind affected but sturdy. My DTSwiss steels rims on my old 2014 TCR were old school and no problem with 23kn cross wind so looking for the same assurance. BTW I changed from very expensive, fragile but superb 26 Turbo Cottons to slower but tougher GP5000 28s. The ride is harder but faster than GP4000 II 25s but the 28 for Sydney roads is a must. Tubes but still lower pressure to absorb the ruts.

Hi Fed. It took me a moment to go from my 25mm Pirelli to 28mm GP 5000. Because tires are not cheap, see if someone will let you test ride a bike similar to yours with 28s. In my experience, they are just as fast, but way more comfortable and smoother. It's one of the better changes I've made, and I'm a little stubborn 🤣

I ride the D67 Disc, and I think overall If you take, weight, price, quality, ridefeel, stiffness, carbon spokes, all together they are one of the best offers. I am thinking about going for a secound pair....

Thanks For Sharing Please review how the breaking performance on descent road plush tips and tricks used carbon rim break wheelset. Thanks 🙏
  • @gaborruda
Great video - as always! :) How do they compare to the Visions so far (Ride feeling / quality? Any noticeable difference? Is one faster than the other? More sensitive to winds)? I am thinking (or rather dreaming) about a slightly deeper section wheel set for my Aeroad. Currently running some cheaper alu Visions (Team 30), that are working tubeless brilliantly too. I quite like the comfort (even managed to fit 28mm tires on them) and they seem to be just perfect during these "beautiful" winter days. However when the roads dry up and the storms are gone, I am very curious to see something deeper than my current 38mm (Cuore) carbon rims. The Visions and Luns you have are on the top of my list.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the ride quality compared to the Primes. I have a pair of the Hyper 50s. The certainly feel fast. My new bike has Rovals and I can't believe how much smoother they are compared to the Hypers with carbon spokes and stiff layup that leaves me feeling fatigued.
