“They’ve been locked I mean, you know at 10 p.m. or so they lock them up and they don’t open them up until the morning,” said Ellis. “You have to have a porta-potty in your room because you know you have to go in the middle of the night.”

How about getting keys made for tenants or a keypad/combo lock. I've seen this done in other places.

So, the building manager doesn't need to go to the bathroom after 10pm until sometime in the morning? NOT! Locking the bathrooms of the tenants is really scummy of him. He got no shame.

Why are the elderly living under such horrible conditions??? Elderly abuse.
  • @tusuong7654
The owner of the horrible building need to repair the bathroom . The bathroom look so slump and dirty. I feel so pity to all the elderly people who have to live there. The city should investigate and help the elderly people who are living there.
  • You should look into this Landlord. This is a well-known drug den building. I believe you will find plenty of problems with the owner.

Building manager is an expert clown I see

I'm sad to hear this. What a horrible living situation, even with the bathroom opened 24/7. With that said, I can also sympathize with the building manager trying to address safety issues.

Lazy resident manager. Get a new guy with military background.
  • @jwiki1
This is pathetic!! They pay $800 a month for 1 working sink, no hot water and a locked bathroom at night?? Sounds like slum lords to me! Shame on them. I would stop paying rent unril things get fixed. This kind of living environment is inhumane!! 😡

Leave the bag from the porta-potty at the manager's door. How about putting that gate on the front entrance to keep the (coddled) homeless out?
  • @ThumbdownMan
$850 for room with shared bathroom. Hawaii rent too high.
  • @zzizahacallar
This is upsetting how these tenants are living. I seen one who I assume served our country and is living like this
  • @BraddahHuna
The building manager should be sent to jail and lose the building. The building owner should be forced off the island and never return, The building should be overhauled and rebuilt for the people living there and NO RENT SHOULD BE COLLECTED!!! THIS IS THE STATE THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEMS,

I needed to hear this. I live right down the street on Maunakea. I hope this helps the area. Thanks for the report!
