The constant hum of spinning skateboard wheels has echoed through the streets of New York City for decades now, but it’s been a long time since a man like Tyshawn Jones has been riding them. Just 20 years old, the Adidas, Supreme and Thrasher co-signed skater -- who’s currently fronting the latest issue of i-D -- has transcended his homely New Jersey-cum-The Bronx upbringings to become an international superstar on the scene.

Watch the first documentary exploring his life story with words from Tony Hawk, William Strobeck and Andrew Reynolds to name a few.

Which part of Tyshawn's incredible journey was the most inspiring to you? 🙏 Leave your thoughts on his come up, or the current state of skateboarding in the comments! 👇👇👇

Tyshawn was the last person who will ever be awarded SOTY by Phelps. That’s as big as the award itself.
  • @Deathdefiant09
NYC skaters are so raw. Skating in the winter is no JOKE!

That Kit part was so true man! I remeber being told ' are you going to a fashion show or are you going skating' and i said ' both '. Rocking a good kit will give you that next level confidence!!
  • @anchorskux
What chad said about the kit and confidence, true as can be

This documentary makes me want to start skating again. Being 39 years old now and remembering when I was TJ's age I was in my prime but life had other plans for me. I'm sure a lot of other older cats who skated in the 90's and early 2000's feel the same way when watching certain skate videos. This video ignites a passion that I to often forget about and it feels good.

Never heard of this kid, but now I’m a huge fan of his. Also, how are you gonna make a video about him and not interview him?!
  • @btvbrndn
This dudes precision and board control is unreal. Every truck he does looks literally perfect.
  • @keithremedy
Crazy how far the IC kids have come. I still remember how much shit a lot of people used to talk about Mikey and some of these kids grew up to really make something of themselves. Still remember watching KB and Nakel and back when I still skated seeing them at random places around LA.

"Keeping it real" is something that you hear so often, it's become diluted with little meaning... But this doc, right here, right now, is the truth for keeps! Nothing but good vibes for real people, from real people. Peace, love and community
  • @leighdavis6902
Broooo cuhh speakin fax about the drip make you feel better at skatin 😂💥
  • @CHANNELAPOLLO
Beautiful piece. Tyshawn Jones is reintroducing real east coast street skating into this era of kids that are growing up to contests and parks, which I have no issue with but a good balance of both spectrums is key !! P.S. Scott Johnston is also a legendary skater in his own right but glad to see he's keeping busy !

I was not prepared for Sage's voice to be that deep lol
