I'm no psycho tree-hugger, just a sportsman and balanced conservationist, but as I grow older myself and gain more wisdom and appreciation for TIME, whenever I see a majestic old growth tree like that felled my heart winces and breaks... What withstood eons of challenges is gone forever in mere hours for a very short term use or profit. Yes trees are "renewable" but at 100-500-1,000+yrs old they should be left untouched. Have areas designated as 'tree farms' where faster growing trees can be harvested, replanted and rotated... Leave the OLD GROWTH for our future children to be in awe of!

This looks like a tragedy to me. We have very few trees like that left in Oregon; there used to be millions.
  • Honestly, as much capability, courage, skill and damn hard work as this requires, I'd rather have the tree :)
  • It’s wonderful knowing that this 200 year old tree is going to turn into something beautiful like an IKEA dining table

Сотни лет роста, борьбы за существование....

I can’t believe that, 23 years into the 21st century, there isn’t a suitable, synthetic substitute for construction lumber.

People talk about how much hard work this is. I’ve been watching this for 10 minutes and I haven’t broken a sweat.

Thank Goodness they finally tracked down that super dangerous stump before anyone else was attacked by it. Hats off to all the brave men and women lightning fast response. Gladly headlines were not sensationalized.
  • Неужели от безысходности пилят такие мощные и красивые деревья ? Скорее всего Алчность и жажда денег ! Такое дерево 1000 лет растить надо ! НЕ ПОНИМАЮ !!!
  • wait for 10 minutes and then see 1 minute of stump removal. Trees being cut down, logging trucks getting stuck, hay being moved, bark removal, log sawing, it didn't even show a stump grinder.... SO.....anything but what the title says. another site that puts out junk to get youtube money
  • @zharkoo
That tree seemed to have been healthy and well, cutting it should be considered a crime. That was painful to see
