Heyo, I feel like you missed a YUGE point about the cost differential, that being: if a company sells a product to the US government, it has to be priced the same as it would be for an individual citizen, “off the shelf”. By marking the prices high, L3 ensures they’ll recoup their engineering and certification costs, while also guaranteeing they’ll get a premium price tag that “somebody” (taxpayers) will buy regardless of the actual cost and profit margin.

I absolutely love these! These are the videos that we need for these devices on the market, this is truly helpful info!

I haven't watched all the way yet, so you may cover this; L3 has a spotty at best track record for quality with their lasers. Guts pulling out when removing the plug, etc. Since you have to go "gray market" when buying a full power L3, you will have ZERO warranty or support. And if you send it in to them, they will confiscate it. Generally speaking, their civilian offerings suck and cost well into the $1k-2k+ category. These big .gov contract companies give zero effs about the regular consumer, and the government regulating things further ruins things.

It’s a bummer that the real one came in such poor condition. I’ve been noticing this more and more. I’m really disappointed in the quality of American manufacturers lately. China is making us look bad and it bums me out.

Someone at the FDA is getting some real fat pockets off these laser contracts.
