Mcculloch 35 Chainsaw from the 1950s- Weird or ahead of its time??๐Ÿค”

Published 2024-05-28
The McCulloch 35 and Super33 Chainsaws built in the 50s, Super Weird, or Way ahead of their time?? Mcculloch was always thinking outside the box but sometimes it just made things Weird and hard to work on, What do you guys think? I was pleasantly surprised to get this one running without much effort, as I've had a couple before and the "Carb" was crap on them and they were basically Wall Art boat Anchors๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

  • Definitely runs good for a weird old beast,..Chainsaw runs good too ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  • The engine sound reminds of my Dad's old Yamaha dirtbike he had in the 70's.

The lever on top is what mcculloch called the High Speed Mixture Control. Forward it leans it out, backwards it makes the mixture richer

Never seen one in the Uk , thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’จ
  • That is a cool, but weird saw Dan. I'm surprised it has a clutch. I figured it'd be a direct drive. What got me the most is the carburetor. Looks like changing the points out would be a dream but rebuilding that carburetor would be something new to me. If you ever rebuild that carb please do a video cause I'd love to get a look at it and I'm probably not the only one.

That saw is wicked! Dan, dude another beast for the collection! Good hunting on the next relic!
  • @chainsawcanuck
Yup mcculloch innovation..making clamshell saws long before poulan department store saws๐Ÿคฃ Those are cool tho

That saw cuts surprisingly well for it age and oversized chain. I couldn't tell if you pumping the oiler or not but that would make it even faster lol. Ive got a 33 and a 35 but they dont run well enough to actually cut. But they are really neat to look at.

Cool saw man. That thing rips! I have two of those. One with this logo and one with the mac in the box logo. Both 35a.
  • @markhigby4034
They are cool saws ,, but those carburetors on them can be a nightmare to work on for an inexperienced guy,I have found that out,, watched alot of videos on these,,,,another cool video Dan, old school is cool
  • @brianking1138
Cool saw! I recently got a super 33 and its in great shape and runs. I am going to keep it because its so unique.
  • @Swabian_sawman
Awesome Dan. I hope your spine bone didn't damage when lifting it.. :))) Really cool to see such an old thing still performing.. Surely the speed of the chain is much slower (low rpm plus gearbox). But i'm sure you could run super long bars with its huge torque. Question: Half inches chain? I only know 7/16 and 0.404. 7/16 are not available anymore as far as I know. At least here in Europe. Would you still get a chain for the Mac? Best wishes Marco
  • Bro I just picked one up at a estate sale itโ€™s locked up and I dread it looks complicated but itโ€™s definitely sweet looking
