Alexander the Great came to Jerusalem around 332 BC and was shown by the priests the book of Daniel where, 200 years earlier, the coming of the Greeks and "their first king" was specifically prophesied. Alexander recognized that this was about him and instead of plundering Jerusalem, asked what he could do for the Jewish people.

I am Greek and we have been learning about that prophecy for centuries, the prophecy was saying also that the horn of the goat will fall and splitting in 4, meaning Alexander will die and his empire will split in 4. After Alexander died at age only 32 his Generals splitted up the empire in 4, that lasted for centuries

Excellent. I was wondering why Jerusalem wasn’t on the list of all the cities that were conquered. Now I know. Makes perfect sense. Bible prophecy is always right.

Furthermore, "Alexander" was the given name to all males in Jerusalem born that year... It remains a "Hebrew name" to this day.

Sometimes we don't understood the events in this world, but it was a mistery & wisdom of God in shaping the world history according to his holy plan to the destiny of mankind. Alexander the Great never defeated in all his battle during his campaign of conquest but he never destroyed temples, churches or any holy places and buildings whatever religion & faith they had in his conquered territories, or even killed or inflicted injury to holy men or priest or priestiest. He respect & spared them! Even he is not Jews, he is a Gentile or Pagan because he was a Macedonian Greeks he honored, respect, and feared God or Gods. He was a great, kind, benevolent, merciful but Braved warriors that is why God bless him!

Hellenism does not destroy foreign civilizations. It learns from them and influences them in a spirit of synthesis and honest spiritual cooperation. The notion of synthesis is present in the gospel of Matthew, 5,20-48.

I had heard that story but jot with all the detail.....THANK YOU

I wonder if Flavius mentioned anything about Alexander reading the latter part of Daniel 8, where it prophecies his demise and division of his empire into 4 parts; something that indeed happened owed to his 4 generals.

Alexander said he had "helpers" in the battle against Tyre. A flying "silver shield" swooped down and shot a beam of light at the wall and it crumbled allowing Alexander in. I imagine he considered that help came from the GOD of the priest in the vision.

Arrian was certain that Alexander the Great was receiving divine assistance. This matches Flavious Josephus account of Alexander visit to Jerusalem, 'I believe that I bring this army under the divine conduct and shall conquer with Darius....'

Very interesting. I always wondered about the kings whose kingdoms were prophesied many years before they were even born, and if they knew about these prophecies, their reactions to them, etc. Thanks for sharing.
