Midwest Industries is a very good scope mount unless you're mounting a 90 degree off-set rear iron sight with most of them being designed for right side use. If they moved the levers to the left side I would have little criticism. The American Defense had no concerning issues, well thought out and provides a much more modular set of options for ring size and style selection. The only thing I could nit pick on the AD is the levers and unlocking tab protrude out and could be a snag issue as the MI's are more low profile.

  • Great informative video! A couple of thoughts on the MI: I saw another video where it was stated that the levers are on the right to cater to right-handed shooters. This keeps them from being a possible snag point against the shooter's clothing/gear. Your video did a good job of showing the profile of each mount's levers. The MI's levers appear to be lower profile/less snag risk than the AD. Also, the release button design on the MI would seem to be less likely to be snagged and activated.

Good breakdown. Glad I found your channel. Just wondered how you liked the offset buis? I was thinking about trying the GG&G qd mount and just keeping my inline back ups. Since I'm new to all this and bought a couple spendy sets of buis before I got LPVO and fixed mount.

Great review! Am looking at both and this helped provide some good info on both mounts.
  • I love everything about ADM mount except for the fact they don’t use steel plugs or even steel thread inserts on every screw.
  • Got the message, Pete! I still like LaRue for their quality construction and their guarantee...take your optic off then put it back on (in the same position as before) and you will get a return to zero within 1 MOA! There's something to like about that! Anyway...you provided a lucid argument for your choice.
  • Nice detailed comparison. Between the ADM and MI, which one has less front to back wobble/play when the mount is placed on the rail? (but the QD's are not tightened yet) Thanks!

Definitely agree with you that the AD mount clamping system is better than the LaRue mount, l own both and the cam system on the LaRue mount has less surface area to grab on the rail do to their cam design, and they definitely dig into you rail and leave wear marks! Also wrenches get lost! Both are made extremely well, but AD wins hands down and for me is the better mount!
