You gotta love how a simple change in voice direction can turn one of the most hated episodes of season 18 into a good one.

I adore this episode so much, and those moments where Thomas can be the supportive one to an elder is so cute to see, especially elevated with Henriettaβs input in the case of Toby.

Funnily enough, this scene greatly matches Toby's character arc. Considering he's only worked at the docks of southern England, and then later his old branchline, Toby would never have been to any of the big cities like London, Brighton, or Southampton. It kind of bugs me, that the TV series used Knapford as the terminus, but I don't think this scene would have worked with Tidmouth. It's too far away from the Ffarquhar branch. The aged up voices really work well! It feels a bit like something out of the RWS.

I liked how you snuck in extra details when the camera cut to another character, like East Anglia or the Flora refrence

Now I want to see the entire episode redubbed. The voices feel spot on, and the edits when new dialog was added are so seamless I didn't notice they were out of place until someone else pointed it out. Please do more of these, the fandom would love it!

S17 has mostly been a good season for me. Only this episode is my least favorite from S18 since Toby has been through Knapford Junction millions of times with nothing to worry about. Maybe if this took place in the first season it would work. From what you described about Thomas I always saw his character as SpongeBob because hes a mix of both mature and often naive and not being the sharpest crayon in the box. Same with Percy, James and Diesel as Patrick, Squidward and Plankton.

I wouldnβt dislike this episode so much if it wasnβt for the fact that weβve seen Toby go through Knapford hundreds of times in the TV series without issue, so this just feels like bs. Like the voice overs thoughπ

Toby has been to knaford several times by the way knaford was the junction for Thomas branch line and tibmoth was the big station
