Several years ago I did a review video of a pinpointer called the MT6 made by a company called Dr Otek. This was a budget pinpointer that although could of used some improvements wasn't bad for its price. Fast forward to today and Dr Otek came out with a brand new incarnation of its pinpointer, the MT6-PRO, that improved on its original design and technology so I was excited to see how it has come along. Here is my testing, review, and overall thoughts on their new unit, the MT6-Pro!

The MT6-Pro officially launches to the public on May 11th, but they are having a pre-sell event that will not only save you money but also include extra gifts as well. You can check it out here:

Would be good to see it up against another pinpointer to see how they compare. Thanks for this review!
  • Thanks for your review, Jason! Very professional! We will continue to improve in the next generation of products. PS: 4.7 inches is the data we obtained when measuring large-volume metal objects, sorry we did not use common coins as reference objects.
  • This is one of the better and more honest reviews I've seen on this pinpointer!
  • I always love your review videos! I still tell people to look back at the series of videos you put out that reviewed inexpensive detectors. Keep up the great work!

Snagged mine this weekend on amazon for 20% off. $37 is not bad at all after all the positive reviews and videos Ive seen on this pointer!
  • Impressive presentation skills. I especially like the box flipping perfection.

I had the old one and it was huge. We got to review the MT-6 Pro and we are happy with it. Jason your reviews are the best👋👍

I had their old one 1 1/2 years ago and lost it in a field !!! Best thing that ever happened to me!! What a POS the Dr made !! Garrett!!!
  • I bought this last month because I couldn't afford a garrett carrot. I was not impressed. Yeah it was cheap. I would o ly use this as a spare, backup, if my Garrett was broke,or lost. I really wanted this to work good, but it didn't work very well. It worked, not saying it didn't. Just not real well. Good review. Thanks
  • I tried the trick of sliding a piece of metal up from the back of my pinpointer towards the tip until it begins to beep...then slide it back just until it stops...and got at least a 4 inch detection range on a dime. But I couldn`t find a way to make this permanent. I was given some no name brand to test two years ago and it`s still doing great. But I had to put something as a shim inside the battery compartment because the batteries kept "going dead" suddenly but I discovered (after throwing several away) that they weren`t making a good connection. This Dr Otek seems to be a nice product. I would buy it.

Detector Pro makes a killer pinpointer with great reach and it gets louder as you approach the target. It almost detects straight forward until you get near the tip. I am a big fan of Quarter Hoarders and always will be and I'm only bringing up another detectorist who makes videos of setting detectors as new ones comes out because of the pinpointer he uses and he pinpoints at some amazing depths with perfect accuracy. Granted he's been at it for decades. I dont make anything off suggesting it I'm just replying after reading a lot of different comments about pinpointers. I dont usually mention any other peoples videos but if anyone wants to see footage of a detectorists using a detector pro pinpointer in live action his videos come out under the name Detector Comparison. If you search his live field test called Manticore vs Deus 2 part 1. He also did several more within 2 weeks they all show then digging some banner targets from the Colonial era including a GW button. They're doing a live hunt comparing what several different detectors called the target if it even hit it at all as he was using the Deus II. He then dug it using the detector Pro pinpointer and the videos shows it working great. I hope I didnt offend anybody posting this on this video its only about the pinpointer not other hunters or their machines I love both his and Quarter Hoarders videos as both hunt colonial states and mostly target these finds which is pretty much what I shoot for although Carter (Detector Comparison) does other videos scuba diving live digs at very old historic swimming sites between NY and Mass to show new detector models and recommends how to set them for stability in black sand and salt. I think the reason I like the way he pinpoints is because he pulls targets a foot down and he only digs like a 6 or 8 inch hole without missing its crazy really

I need a good cheap pin pointer for my grandson, I'll keep this one in mind when I decide to get one for him. I use a Tek-Point pin pointer I won from Tekntics a couple years ago, it's great.
  • Love the video Jason. The Garrett Carrot is the best I've ever used. I end up wearing a hole in the tip of them my fault but they keep on working. My first Garrett pinpointer wad the black one. 12 or 13 years ago I bought that one and it still works. I've tried other brands nothing so far is comparable to the Garrett. Take Care
  • Nice job Jason you an 2 other people did the same thing. They are all great reviews on a inexpensive tool that we need for digging up treasures. Have a great night.
  • Great job Jason! I still have my old Dr O and its fine when I forget to charge my Nokta. Can’t beat the deal, 30% makes it worth for a backup or beginner.
