This is the new Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter! The Trailhunter is a brand new version of the Tacoma designed to be overland ready with its beefy off-road capabilities. It is powered by a new hybrid 4-cylinder engine which is the most powerful engine offered in the new Tacoma. Today I'm reviewing this new Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter and I'll show you the many quirks and features. I'm also going to get behind the wheel and show you what it's like to drive.

Doug the type of guy to review the entire Toyota lineup in the span of a couple weeks
  • @Pete292323
Akio Toyoda in 2017: "No more boring cars!" And everyone at Toyota took that personally.
  • Tacoma Trailhunter, coming to a grocery store parking lot near you!
  • @eamonmullins4347
This will look so good parked in front of craft breweries and Whole Foods markets

This truck is also $65,000. Absolutely insane for a midsize truck.

Those LEDs and light bar will look great in my rearview mirror when I’m being tailgated by this truck going 80+ 😂

lol bruh somebody said Doug is the kinda guy who lick his finger to change to the next page on his iPad 😂😂😂
  • @Canadian_Gamer
“Unfortunately, I can’t really off-road today as the area is all washed out and super muddy…” Isn’t that the ideal weather conditions for this truck?!
  • @Wonderer69
Doug is the type of guy to give his water bottle a Doug score .

One thing I think that's impressive that no one seems to mention is that the power inverter for these new cars is 2400W @120V. That can basically power anything as long as your battery is charged which is kinda insane. Usually it's been maxed out at like 400W. You basically never have to carry around one of those big backup batteries.

Thank you for not doing this review indoors, the echo drives us nuts
  • 12 mpg on a hybrid four cylinder??? I think Doug is totally breezing over this. I don’t care if you are doing Baja races with the thing, that is insane. What is the pay off for using a drivetrain that your fanbase doesn’t like/want? No mpg gain. Power is pretty much the same. More complexity and inevitably less reliability. And they are forcing it down your throat by making it the only option on upper trim levels. Great truck in a lot of ways but this powertrain seems to have missed the mark so much it isn’t even fun. I wish Doug would have dug into this a bit more (no pun intended). Seems inexplicable and inexcusable.

$63,900 before markups. Quick math: $6,400 down (10%) + tax and interest (7.64) 60 Months Payment: $1260 @12.5% of take home pay you should be earning $157,500 annually to be looking at this car (assuming the appropriate taxes are coming out of your paycheck). National average wage (US Census): $63795. Percentage making $150k annually: approx. 8.3% 5 Year price increase Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro: 2019 MSRP: $42,960 2024 MSRP: $63,900 49% increase Wage growth 2019-2024: 1.7% (Source: US Treasury) These price increases far outpace inflation and wage growth. Toyota is targeting 8% of total market. Or people who just want to act fiscally irresponsible.

This truck would be excellent if it had a $10k cheaper msrp.
  • @tac6377
You know Doug really loves Crawl Control as he never fails to mention it
  • @vipvopvoy2350
Doug the type of guy to own a Lamborghini, a Carrera GT and a Ford GT but still won’t update his microphone
  • @stupidvideos1449
I know I'll only see this driven on regular roads and never dirty
  • @MacNewton
I just love the way Doug talks with his hands. I wonder if he knows that he is swearing in American Sign Language a few things he said are hilarious.
  • I mean it is kinda cool that Toyota was finally like here have some aftermarket stuff from the factory ! Just give us money
