Horse of a Lifetime | 4 Years w/my Wild Mustang

On April 15th 2016 I picked up a wild untouched 2-year-old mustang for an mustang makeover competition. Within 3 days, I knew there was something special about this horse. Tag #9817, eventually named Lynx aka Wild Card. My third wild mustang.
Throughout those 4 years, we've been on so many adventures and have traveled cross-country multiple times together. Just us on the road. I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing horse from a random draw. I didn't pick this horse, but he was the horse I needed. He's helped me through some really horrible times, but has also been the main factor in all of my good times as well. I have my team of my three "heart" horses.... it was only going to be two, my sweet PMU foal mares Calliope and Calypso. I didn't want a third, I was fine with my two, but I can't picture my life without this goofy mustang in it. I've gentled about 12-13 mustangs straight from the wild and loved them all but had to let them go so I could continue to gentle them. I just couldn't let Lynx go though. Okay, I'll stop rambling LOL. Here's some highlights of the past 4 years :) I don't have many videos from early on but I did find a few I didn't know I had. He was before I photographed/videoed everything.

I love how the obstacle fell on him and he didn't even flinch
  • Oh my... When he pulled down the curtain on top of himself and it didn’t bother him a bit... that’s when you won!
  • Every time I watch these videos I think of all the poor horses that have been trained harshly and forced to do things that are painful and frightening to them. Then I see basically, a little girl, taking the time to know her horse, to teach him gently, to make him a friend and partner and it touches my heart so deeply. I always think it must have been like this in Eden.

Am I the only one getting emotional watching this transformation? Beautiful 💕
  • Thats the way ! Dont "break ' the horse . keep the spirit in the horse, nurture the spirit , thats the way ...FANTASTIC
  • I’ve been watching this over and over and it still hits home. I gotta thank you. You and Camille are pretty much the reason I got mustang. I showed my parents this video and a couple others of yours and they allowed me to do the OKC makeover this year and the horse I got is this little curly bay 2 year old, and he’s been the most awesome little horse. Today was his 6th ride and he was a little rockstar. He’s been pretty much the best horse I’ve trained, and there’s no way on Earth that I would have been able to get him without you doing these videos, so thank you!
  • Got my 1st mustang when I was 9. I had him 33 years. They're amazing animals when you love & learn to understand them. They talk to you. It's a beautiful thing.

The little princess and her beautiful horse honoring the 5000 years old bond and friendship between humans and horses.
  • Your a very courageous woman who isn’t afraid of training a wild mustang from the wild I definitely love watching your videos
  • All a horse wants is to know that you won't let him be hurt. They'll agree to anything else.

Lynx is so smart and such a good friend. You test him and keep him interested through incredible kindness. He reminds me of “Snowman”. If you don’t know about Snowman, I can fill you in. I tried not to cry during the video, but failed. This is beautiful Sam. Thank you so much! Actually extraordinary and beyond words!

Sam, you are one of those trainers who will have horse training schools named for you, books and movies will someday recount how you were one of those people who changed the way we interact, not only with horses, but with each other. What a joy it is to watch you.

Awsome performance, this girl knows what she is doing, much respect, this is how it is done. Horse knows what she wants, a great bond.

This is the real connection that every horse deserves. Loved so much watching this. I have a horse myself and I play on the ground more than I ride… He is such a calm, chill and happy boy. I hope all horse’s owners can treat their horses with more love and patience after watching this video! 🙏🏼❤️

It is soo apparent that this horse loves, respects and trusts you endlessly. And you the same. : ) Lynx is a sponge; he just loves learning new tricks, he's a real shmarty! And you are something else as well. Kudos!

One thing I really look at in people working with horses is the horse's expression. He is totally hooked on to you. Someone taught you well or you were just born with the the most important thing every horseman and women. Good feel.
