Despite has appearances being relatively short throughout Hazbin Hotel so far, the Overlord Vox has quickly became not only a major fan favorite but personal favorite character of mine. A bitter rival to Alastor who sells tech products to the local sinners of Pentagram City. But it feels like not many are able to recognize just how bad of a person he really is. Which simultaneously makes him such an entertaining villain to watch. So let's exlore Vox's journey so far and see just how BAD he really is!

This man showed up for a second in the pilot and became my favorite
  • @SevenQs
He has hypnotic powers but he couldn’t convince Alastor to be business partner. Maybe he literally is the only person who’s ever rejected him

I mean, I’m pretty sure all three Vees are among the worst of the Overlords at least. It just so happens that Valentino is the worst out of all of them. But considering Vox and Velvette clearly don’t give a sh*t about how Val treats his employees says a lot.

I love Vox but Ik the moment they show how truly awful he is it still won’t change my opinion on him bc I love unapologetically evil villains. He’s just so entertaining and I love it every time he’s on my screen.

"His Medium is getting bloody rare" is one of best puns in Season 1
  • 50% of his personality is just hating Alastor. I will admit, his design is great and might be one of the best in the show.

if you knock his hat off, does the wifi go out?

I'm pretty sure that Vox is one of those villains you love but not because they have even the slightest chance at redemption, but because they're entertaining af.

To be fair Alastor was a cannibal murderer So its not like he was any better
  • @chudzors
Vox is one of the best characters in the show, dude knows hes fucked up and doesnt even try to hide it
  • Tbh Vox’s design, personality, abilities, and role in the overall story were interesting to me and fun to watch. He is the type of villain that tries to give off the “Manipulative, I’m always in control” vibes while at the same time being a pathetic, rage-fueled hypocritical baby when put on the spot (like whenever Alastor is concerned). And I just love the dichotomy of the whole thing 😂 Really excited to see how season 2 explores his character. Especially his past with Alastor seeing as he had a photo of him so maybe they used to get along 👀

What's interesting is there is a ripped picture of Alastor with Vox being at the edges, so they used to pals at some point.

One thing I love about Vox is his incredible power set. He's not one of those shonen power scaling big math moon buster types (although if you really want to go there his temper tantrum did cause a near citywide blackout.) His powers are thematic, versatile, and has great utility and implications. Mind control is already a great and terrifying power, but the fact that he can project it through the any screen, gives him incredible range. And it's used in a really interesting allegorical way, he probably wouldn't need literal mind control the way he can control media and project himself across multiple video channels simultaneously. And the fact that he can transform into electricity and travel through camera's and screens is also really underrated, especially considering how extensive his camera network is. These are the kinds of powers I like, the tactile creative use powers.

Most most despicable villains in fiction are those that are a direct reflection of real life villains.
  • @fuzzymelon1261
he's the best type of evil. I am just a sucker for CEO villians
  • So good news about the Vees is that in a recent interview Vivziepop stated that they will play a major role in season 2 and that the season centers around them as the main antagonists but specifically Vox and that we will get more details about his past and relationship with Alastor and how Vox as the main antagonist of season 2 will effect Alastor and the other residents of the Hazbin Hotel
  • @RubberHoseToons
I wonder if he and Al were friends at one point and now he has some kind of mix of hatred and trauma. (If you look closely at the picture of Alastor that they throw a knife at in the finale, you can see a cut out Vox next to him)
  • @V_MC
Another thing i've noticed about his voice is that, he's audibly more muffled whenever he isn't facing the camera (or, our screen) I think that's a pretty cool detail lol
  • @joer6842
If anyone also noticed, vox and alastor, scratch the desk in the same way, alastor in the ending song, and vox when told alastor is back
