In these hot summer months, I’m organizing shelves and closets in the cottage. Now that we’ve been here for over a year, I have a better idea about how we can efficiently live in this space. Changes are being executed as we speak! #closetorganizing #closets #declutter #chinacloset #cottagegarden #garden #gardening #cottage

How precious that your second mom wrote that all out for you— to have that information in her handwriting is so special...❤

It's been triple digits all month so I've been inside cleaning out & organizing my entire house. Found things that I forgot about! Bags if stuff out & to GOODWILL. Feels wonderful.

Tip for LEAH—- look for a nice armoire or wardrobe (a vintage wardrobe is not as deep as a TV armoire, try to avoid them) you can use as a “party closet.” I have a beautiful Art Nouveau wardrobe that I put shelves inside that hold all my party/entertaining things. It has a drawer at the bottom for my chargers and some linens. Shelves require no hardware. Decide how much space you want between the shelves and how wide (side to side) you need your shelves to be. Then go to Lowe’s and get standard wood shelving cut to size. You need 2 uprights per shelf. To put shelves in your wardrobe, put an upright against each side wall and add your shelf on top. Keep adding shelves until you get them all installed. Then fill them up! Easy-peasy and looks great.

Great video. Love the gardening videos but I REALLY like all the variety your channel has. Never boring.

Wow Linda, you just said your closet is an abomination with too many clothes, and I’m watching just as I’m clearing and rearranging mine after thinking the same thing this morning and deciding I need to declutter and reorganize!!! Great minds think alike 😊
  • I LOVE WATCHING ORGANIZING ROOMS AND LOOKING TO A BEAUTIFUL STUFF, LIKE YOUR TABLECLOTH COLLECTION, GLASSWARE, DECOR, ETC. THANK YOU LINDA FOR YOUR VIDEOS.

Cracking up at you saying, "I could be on coke..." 😂😂😂 Preach, Linda! So funny and unexpected.
  • You two laddies are such a hoot. Truly enjoy you both. Thank you for the ideas for storage. ❤❤❤

I love to reorganize/ declutter closets and cupboards, it gives me such a sense of calm. Those jeans are fabulous on you Linda! I’m sooo glad the “ skinny” jean trend has finally died! I didn’t think they really flattered any shape, so good riddance! Great to “ see” you Stewart and lively as always Leah! 🇨🇦❤️👏

China and dishware are very heavy, not just for the wall brackets but also to carry up and down the ladder. Consider lowering your shelves for dishes at midrange height, so you don't risk breakage of dish nor yourself while climbing the ladder. Napkins and fabric items are certainly lighter weight to store on upper shelving, and if you drop them, not an issue. Yes, you have your beautiful rug runner to prevent breakage of dishware, but that pretty rug will not prevent breaking your hip or arm or straining muscles in your shoulder, wrist, or back. Please think about it. I, too, love to organize❤ Have a restful sabbatical 😊

I would put shelving below for China, heavy things which would make it easier to handle. Then hang the linens above, they are easier and lighter to get down to use.

You need a safer ladder. There are ladders with wide steps and a rounded bar at the top so you can always have something stable to hang onto. There are Costco versions and more upscale versions and they all fold to a flat 2 inch profile that you can easily tuck away - like maybe at the one end of your tablecloths. Seriously, you will not regret this. I have them on every level of the house, LOL:. .
  • Linda I say the same thing about my thrifting and China collections" I could have worst habits" I don't smoke, drink or do drugs but I thrift and collect like it's my day job!
  • @rubylongtine9933
I always love videos like this. It gets all of us new and fun ideas when we reorganize our stuff! Love it All. Thank you!!
  • @angiejones7401
Linda, those plates with hangers could hang above the WINDOW . It looks like there may be enough room.
  • @joedoe5868
Don’t forget the space above window in your new butlers’ pantry. Would be a great place to hang/display platters and get them off your shelves.

To help keep track I would print out a borrower's chart with name of borrower, what was borrowed on what date and when it was returned. Our friends don't mean to forget but it happens and it helps to have a record so we are not helplessly looking for a piece that's missing. You could stick the chart on the back of the door.
