Okay so this comment is a year ago but I stumbled upon this video and I'd like to correct something. Scarne did NOT use bent cards in no shape or form. He could use a borrowed deck of cards and have them shuffle it and he would find the aces. Blindfolded. He took the secret to the grave. Now OTHER people's renditions use crimps and gimmicks but Scarne did it 100% magical~ Not really but he took the secret to the grave with him. The only other magician able to do it ungimmicked and unaided is
  • @PastorShank
Bill Malone- a student of the famous Ed Marlo. Bill apparently (forgot where I read this) spent half his life trying to figure out the secret (and is himself, quite accomplished as a magician) and you can find his routine on youtube. Spectators are asked to bring a new deck of cards and shuffle them. The deck never disappears from sight but he finds them anyways. When he was asked about the secret he said "The truth will only disappoint you." Sorry... this was long winded but needed correction.

ya this is not Scarne's Aces
  • This isn't Scarnes Aces , the trick uses someone else deck , not your one that you can mark, this is just marked cards

Has anyone seen Bill Malone do this trick? In one of his performances he had somebody hold their hands over his eyes, shuffle then cut to an Ace and he did this with a sealed deck.

Thumbs Up, If you had no idea a marker was at the table @ 2:55

You just spent over 8 minutes over explaining how to apply daub to cards. You could have simply added 30 seconds to your performance of this effect and saved everyone a lot of time. No criticism on your performances or your thinking, just on your teaching method.
  • @fonejacker2008
@schwarzeneggermagic but it was a borrowed deck AND the spectator (normally notorious gangsters) would shuffle the deck themselves before they handed it to them. watch bill malone imitate it

As great as this method is, it doesn't seem like either Scarne's method, nor Malone's. This method is good for cutting the deck while in your hand. But both Scarne and Malone cut the deck from the table. Doing this on a table with this method seems very close to impossible.
  • @Nasolini1
So, how did Scarne do it with a brand new deck.
  • @MrSpades8 no not at all...this is because your only putting the pencil on the end of the card. If for some reason it gets on another card you can just erase it
  • @DrunkOfficeTea
This way might work but originally scarne or bill could do it with any deck somone else's so they was no preparation
  • @FawlTV
This is not scarne's method, or Bill Malone's. If you want to learn a method with a some one elses deck of cards, learn "marlo's estimation aces"
  • Im not denying that Harry Loraine did it, Im just saying that as far as the Scarne thing goes, no one actually knows his personal method
  • @Innovativemagi
The only impromptu versions of scarne aces are the Marlo"s Estimation aces, and the technique in which you take a new just opened deck and make crimps in the aces by controlling them to the top (by 2 perfect faro"s in on a deck in new deck order) and then springing the cards a few times. But remember, it's all the same trick to a spectator.

it's shuffle culling. It can be done very well. It's kept a secret even today, but I've got my method for culling cards, so I can do this trick with a non-gimmick method.
  • @MrDrumzOrz he had bent cards....because of this you can do the trick blindfolded. Hope this helps
  • @ThomasMR1
@HQMinecraft you can´t. i start to perform one trick. people wanna see it again. THEY shuffle the deck and i perform that trick again. THEN you perform this trick. spectator knows it´s a normal deck (think they know) and will not ask. they´ll just be amazed.
