Charles Barkley once said there are three types of NBA players: Guy who love the game, Guys who love the game and the paycheck, and Guys who just love the paycheck. It's like any job.
  • @Coreyy12
I’ll always remember after a game Whiteside was asked what motivated him or something and his response was “I’m just trynna get my 2k rating up.”

Ben Simmons could have been poor man's LeBron but decided to be poor man's Draymond

Ayton is like the guy you draft in 2k but then later find out he has a D potential
  • @jamesjohnson1167
Ayton told us off rip he here for a bag n no one listened Also when someone has the David Robinson build and wasn’t a dominant shot blocker in college that was a CRAZY red flag
  • Putting Kat in the same conversation as these guys is crazy. Cause he’s shown improvement and been a consistent All Star level player. He’s just not a number 1 option.

There’s a difference between hating basketball and losing passion for the NBA.

It's been 6 years since Ayton was drafted. For me he's tough to evaluate. Sure he's a walking double double but after 6 years all he has to show for it is the All Rookie First Team. No All Stars, no All NBAs, no All Defense, never led the league in any box score statistics. He's also turning 26 this year so I guess he is as close to his ceiling as he can get. Four players drafted after him are already much more decorated than he is.

I don't think it's fair to lump KAT into this category. He definitely isn't the alpha you would want him to be with his talent and a little too laid back for his own good, but you don't become the 2nd option on a Western conference contender with 51/43/88 splits if you hate basketball.

Just because you're good at something, doesn't mean you necessarily enjoy doing it... at the end of the day, it's still a job and most people don't enjoy going to work.

Money can't buy you love. A frequent quote to have and it's true .
  • @SuperNASCARrocks
Looking at you Ben Simmons. For Ayton he never had that drive to improve. The weaknesses in his game consistently showed up in the 5 years he played for the Suns. He had no drive and was one of the softest centers in the league. It was frustrating watching him play. Glad the Suns traded him.
  • @uriel7940
KAT isn’t a #1 option. It’s just not who he is and it actually doesn’t suit his game either. His mindset can be off and on but he definitely shouldn’t be on here.
  • @Doh_Chee
Deron Williams shouldn't be on this list. His frustration after the injuries are understandable 😢
  • @Lucy-yc4bc
Surprised to not see Andrew Bynum and Larry Sanders
  • @T-Add
Lumping Deron Williams in there with the rest of these guys is a tad unfair. He played in the NBA for about a decade before falling off. That's the expected life cycle of an NBA player.
  • @yougotbaited2943
Giannis started as a guy just doing it for the money and for his family. And then it turned into wanting to be great and caring for his team and city he plays for. He’s the opposite of this in my opinion.
  • @siler22
If this was made by Espn number 1 would be Nikola Jokic
