1-3-3-1 is a common shape and structure that an overwhelming amount of rugby teams use and have variations for. The figures add up to eight, the 1-3-3-1 refers to the pack of eight forwards and how they locate themselves when attacking.

“We have a structure to get to unstructured as fast a we can”

Hi Pete! great easy to understand explanation of 1331. would it be possible to go a step further..... after a couple of phases using the pods from one side of the pitch to the other, could you explain where and how players ( the pods ) should go to their next positions on the field for a return passage of play assuming we will use the 1331 pods again. I find my players are getting a bit lost or are over committing where they shouldn't be! Thanks, love your work, very insightful. Rob.

Thank you for this video it’s great. Could you do a video on rugby terms and what they mean for example what inside to outside means and all the other ones so I can share it with my under 14s as a quiz please thank you.

Great video. Can I ask how explicit you are regarding the pods of 3 please? I imagine you’ve allocated those particular forwards based on their strengths, however, what happens for example off line out when the lifting pod contains different numbers to those prescribed. Would you be happy for them to stay in the 3 from lineout or would you expect them to swap during phase play? Thanks

After the 11/6 going looking for work, what would be a good indicator to go back to the outside channel?
