  • I worked there till just before it closed as a power station . I wrote this in the riggers loft There she stands all alone The machines are quiet The men are gone It's over now her days are done So many stories she could tell Of how she'd done her job So well To light the lights of Brisbane town Long after the sun and gone down She's given her best Through the years Sometimes smiles sometimes tears Just once more I'd like to see The smoke and steam breaking free Against the sky like a billowing sea But this now all is memory It's said all things must come to an end But this is like the loss of a friend Though no one I think will stop to cry We who know her say Bulimba GOODBYE
  • I lived not far from where this railway operated. That was back in the 1960s. Coal trains where a regular sight on the main line leaving full wagons at the powerhouse siding and taking away the empties. There were two power plants, Bulimba A and Bulimba B, a glimpse of both is seen at one point in the video. Although both these power plants disappeared decades ago the rail line is still there. When major roadwork was carried out adjacent to the line, it was left undisturbed. This makes me think that there may be some plans for it in the future. Thanks for the memory.

  • Very impressive footage! What's the story behind this railway, I've never heard about it until now myself, and can't find any info online about it.
