The techniques used are interesting, but what I'm really curious about is how people figured this stuff out in the first place?

Is there like a specific reason to do it in a potato or is it just for funsies?

Were the jewelers old before or after the melting proces?

Amazing!!!Tried many other forms of crucibles many decades ago, including tablespoons but the gold kept sticking to stainless steel.
