To have Stephen Curry, a rich kid who has never worked a grueling job in his life, and Seth Macfarlane, who wrote the Cleveland show, be the main writers on a show about the lives of a working class African American family, shows how out of touch Netflix executives are.

As a black guy I’ve seen better representation in those old racist cartoons 💀
  • @davisthegamelord
Fun fact: most of the old cast and the family of the dead ones have viciously disavowed this show
  • @NoahBClark
I hate that guns, drugs, and violence are still seen as synonymous with my skin color. The stigma is annoying as hell and a large chunk of African Americans don’t engage with any of that. We are more than that.

so basically they WANT the whole show to just be “black sufferage” but not actually fixing any issues 😭😭😭😭😭

The Boondocks hiring an anime animation studio was a very good call.
  • @aeon6973
We lost the boondocks for this…let that sink in….we lost the boondocks….for this
  • @fleaasmcgee1271
They fr used “Black everything” as the bg song too 💀
  • When I was a young cute child watching Good times was like getting a warm hug from grandma. It was about a family who valued their love for each other above anything else while they ride out the very highs and lows of life only to finally succeed together and leave the hood. This new "show" is like having my grandma punch me in my face.

•Barely animated •Jokes that are either played out or over explained •Comedian voice actors •Stereotyping to the point of blatant racism •Using an established series as leverage for relevance •Talking baby acting like an adult This reeks of “crap pitch and no budget, but we’re contractually obligated to make something with the IP”. I’ll be very surprised if this isn’t cancelled within a season.
  • This is what I call the "Velma Effect" where Hollywood and animators alike suffer from an extreme disconnection from society and have to appeal to the masses with stereotypes, awful jokes, and shit animation. A common trend we must defeat.

how is it not considered racist? how, it really feels like someone was making fun of black people, is it just me? how is this not racist?
  • @flowerbloom5782
They didn’t just ruin good times. They ruined a good song, “Everything Black”. Also really? A black show trailer with the song lyrics “everything black black” Who signed off on this? Who was the editors? No one saw any problems with this?

I'm black and i can definitely tell you Rap, Drugs, Name Brand Clothes, Jewelry, Big Booty Women are not that appealing to me. Not every black loves to listen to hip hop and rap and wants to be an athlete. Im a 23 year old African American who wants to make manga and listen to rock. Society is soo damn tone death and short sighted, it's sad.

The lack of inbetween frames is absolutely disgusting.

"you stare at your orange juice, every morning!" -"it says 'concentrate' on the box!" this just sounds like an ancient "Yo Mama"-joke from 2000s facebook.
