Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids play "Dixie Chicken"

Published 2024-06-19
Hey guys! We are running a bit late tonight. Thanks for sticking with us. We had such a great time at our first livestreamed concert last night. We can’t wait until we can do it again next month! We’ll let you know the date soon! Tonight’s song was a difficult one! Colt has always wanted to do it but the rhythm is tricky! The kids were troopers and got it down after a few takes. We hope you enjoy it! This is Colt Clark and the Quarantine Kids playing, “Dixie Chicken” by Little Feat.

Hello everyone! We're the Clark family. Colt (the dad) is a professional musician and Aubree (me, the mom behind the camera) is a photographer. Together we home school our three children. To keep busy during the shutdown we started learning and recording a new song every other day to share with our friends and family. We love playing music and spending time together as a family. Hopefully these songs brighten your day!

That Ritchie Hayward drum groove is tricky but so much fun when you master it! Hats off to Beckett! This was a favorite song of of my favorite band I played in. We're all thirtysomething/fortysomethings and the older folks loved that we played all the best classic tunes. My favorite Ritchie story is also touching. When Ritchie was battling serious cancer in 2010, he was asked to sit in on drums for a song or two at a little feat concert. He had just recently retired from the band for health reasons and helped pick his replacement drummer but the band wanted to hear Ritchie one last time maybe while he was still with us. So this drummer helped Ritchie up to the drum kit and said, "When you get tired my friend, just motion and I'll take over." But Ritchie played the whole entire show and the encores. He played his behind off and sounded great. The new drummer was in tears, the whole band was too. The audience as well. It was Ritchie Hayward's last show. His widow eventually remarried legendary session drummer Russ Kunkel (Immediate Family) believe it or not, and they both honor Ritchie all the time.

Usually, it's one of the kids who steals the show. But I have to hand it to the slide player on this one. Great stuff!
