The Church of Scientology, increasingly labelled a secretive cult, is once again proving why it’s such a contentious organisation. Two months ago, a court in the United States found one of its members, Hollywood actor Danny Masterson, guilty of multiple rapes. As intolerable as that is, what the case also exposed were the extraordinary tactics the Church used to protect its star recruit, and how it cruelly attempted to silence his victims, who themselves were Scientologists.

Since then, there have been even more revelations about life inside Scientology, including damning accusations of serious abuses and mob-style operations and attacks. But as Tara Brown reports, taking on an organisation as bullying and belligerent as Scientology comes at a cost.

Scientology MUST lose its tax-exempt status. And they need to be prosecuted for kidnapping and human trafficking. And sued out of existence.
  • @tamoxigirl78
Scientology has to be banned out of existence.
  • @JayDillDrums
This is legitimately more than a cult. This is like a criminal organization.
  • @kristaw2686
Kudos to 60 minutes Australia for ALWAYS having the guts to speak out against this horrible human trafficking cult. When other news organizations wouldn't do these stories, you were and still are. Bravo!
  • @LegionOfWeirdos
Why the hell any government lets them call their organization a "religion" is beyond me.
  • @clpr2023
Take away their tax exempt status and Scientology is severely crippled.
  • @richardhedd3080
Scientology has too much power in the US media for this kind of reporting. Thank you so much Sixty Minutes Australia, at least they haven't silenced you. Criminal organizations need to be held accountable, even if they're called a church.
  • @TuxedoPanther
There must be something terribly wrong with the legal system in America to allow this to happen.
  • @scarletsletter4466
I think it’s good that our cousins across the globe can cover this story since the US media is so intimidated by Scientology. The amount of money & power this organization wields is deeply disturbing
  • @amorkunas9071
Comparing scientology to the mafia gives the mafia bad name!
  • @DustinHaning
It's unbelievable that something like this is allowed to exist in the US.
  • @user-db9ov3bt8n
It’s not a cult without abuse and intimidation! Please stop calling it a church! It’s a cult!
  • @DAN-cc2um
Kudos to Katie Holmes and her family for saving Suri from this wacko organization.

Scientology in my city was a small 1500sq.ft. building and a staff of 15-20 people. That happened to be located exactly in our hood on our block. One day they got into argument and jumped on one of our guys. That was their BIG mistake. We messed up everyone there that day, lined them up and made them apologize. Never looked in our direction since then and thankfully closed their division there at all shortly after.

Held against their will in America 😡 disgraceful! Good job 60 Minutes Australia 👍🏻👍🏻 hope y'all do a follow up
  • @curiousworld7912
No one cares what these people believe; it's what they do, that's the problem. Child abuse, human trafficking, stalking and harassment - it seems law enforcement should be involved.
  • @LarryLeeMoniz
60 Minutes Australia had the courage to report that 60 Minutes America didn't have the guts to do. Well done.

60 minutes Australia has been exposing Scientology's abuses, along with journalist Tony Ortega & many others, for years! 👍 I helped supervise John Travilta in the early 70's at Celebrity Center. I supervise Danny Masterson in 6th grade. Scientology and their "Policy" that it is a "High Crime" to call the police makes them accountable.

How can an 8 year old childsign a preposterous billion year contract???
