Maybe they design the keyway like this so they can register it as a trademark and sue locksmiths making copies of the keys without the blanks from Basi. I've read about similar legal actions (not by Basi, though) against users of the EasyEntrie profile cutting system.

I have DOM, FAB and a couple of different ABUS that all spell out their brand name. I'll be keeping my eye out for one of these Basi padlocks. Nice picking Ash and thanks for sharing.
