For anybody curious about the "animation" dockers in updated Krita - the "animation timeline" docker now has everything you need built into the dock. On the right hand side of the docker, you will see an onion button - this enables onion skins, and beside that you will see three horizontal lines stacked upon one another - this contains your start/end for the old "animation" docker, and to the far left topside of the "animation timeline" docker you will find the play/pause buttons etc. Hope this helps for anybody who was a little confused like I was :)

PLEASE NOTE: The "Animation" docker does not exist, almost all of the features from it were moved into the "Timeline" docker.

Not only is he teaching you how to use Krita, but he's also educating you on the side about animation. That deserves a sub.

Not to be dramatic but this is literally the best tutorial I have ever seen in my entire life
  • @seajayz.stuffz
FINALLY A TUTORIAL THAT GETS STRAIGHT TO THE POINT, THANKS MAN 😭💖

It's 2022, I'm just getting into animation, and I've just found my favorite tutorial ever. And I mean it when I say EVER. This tutorial video is so simple and yet so easy to understand when you touch Krita for the very first time, and it also gets straight to the point. Thank you so much Triple J, you made my day! (+1 sub.)

Tip: If you're using the latest version of Krita and you want to create a new frame, you still have to right click the next frame, but there are more options now. So, you have to go to ,Keyframes' and then press ,Insert Keyframe right'. Hope I can help anyone who couldn't find it :) Edit: Woah, there are so many nice people here, I'm so glad I could help you all <3

No limited frames?? No limited time to use it?? Free to use???? I NEED TO DOWNLOAD THIS ASAP
  • @MrPodgikins
That is EVERYTHING a tutorial should be. Right to the point, good energy, good flow, no f'n BS fluff, etc. A++++++
  • I really appreciate tutorials that start with the basics and build up. So many times creators just assume you're already familiar with a program, but I'm downloading Krita for the first time and love the way you give a tour of the basic workspace before moving on to animation. It'll really speed up the learning curve for me (I hope)
  • I don't know why but I'm getting so emotional, things have been so confusing and every video explains it with the idea the viewer has prior knowledge and you.. you just explained with such politeness and explained each and every thing and what they contribute in Krita. You really helped me out to get one step closer to one of my dreams. Thank you so much I hope you're having a wonderful day, if not then I hope this comment puts a smile on your face like your video did for me <3

You have the happy-voice-but-not-in-a-annoying-way voice. This is the ultimate voice

Two of my main hobbies are computer science and animation. Programming for more than half of the day on a regular basis left me burned out, but I felt bad for just lazing around all day, so I decided to finally learn how to animate properly. (I used to export each frame individually and then put them into a video editing program.) Upon finding out that I have to do more computer stuff after finishing the animation, I nearly cried. It’s almost midnight and I want to go to sleep, but my leftover golden child syndrome won’t let me.
  • This video saved my life!! I'm so close to a deadline and Toonboom decided to crash. I'm so used to photoshop but animate there is a nightmare for me, so this was it! Never leaving Krita since today, THANK YOU SO MUCH
  • @kaiswift6102
You explained this faster than any of my teachers could, they turn a 25 minute lesson into 5 days.
  • @oskarludvig6225
You're like the Bob Ross of animation Much appreciated vid helped me lots
  • @aisling9466
I needed to animate a small bit for a project this video is a life saver it's incredibly easy to understand and still very detailed and gives tips along with it its genuinely the most educational video I've ever watched. This made me fall in love with animation, thank you :)
  • I just want to thank you soooo much ! This tutorial really helped me. I was curious about animating and future projects and now I can say that after watching your video, I'm confident about it. Thank you ! <3
