EASY Atari Lynx LCD Screen Upgrade: A No-Solder "Drop-in" LCD Screen install!

Published 2021-02-26
Looking for a NEW screen for your Atari Lynx 2? Last year I reviewed and installed a new LCD screen upgrade for the Atari Lynx II from BennVenn. That Atari Lynx screen upgrade was excellent BUT meant soldering a dozen or so wires.

Enter the new version of the screen. This new Lynx LCD screen can be installed with ZERO SOLDERING... Yes... No soldering required at all, and one optional wire if you choose...

BennVenn can be found here: bennvenn.myshopify.com/collections/aftermarket-lcd…

I bought one of these screens for my Lynx II back in March or April, but didn't have the nerve to install it until tonight. I girded my loins and gave it the proverbial whirl, using your video as a guide (as the kit didn't come with any instructions). Aside from trying to get my big meat hooks into some overly tight spaces, the installation was fairly straightforward. I didn't do the extra wire (I didn't have my soldering iron handy), but it's a night and day difference from the old screen. I want to thank you, wholeheartedly, not just for this video, but for all the instructive and entertaining videos you've done over the years that have helped countless people. I wish you and your family the best as you rebuild your life after the fire.

What a difference that makes. And so much easier than the fiddly soldering job on other options I've dealt with. This is lovely. Thanks Mark

More double entendres than a Carry On movie. Love it. My word those games looked brilliant.

I do appreciate it when someone takes care as they flip me over before they start screwing.

Just bought the last no-soldering screen from K-Retro. Looking forward to upgrading my Lynx 2, which works perfectly fine, but with that new screen, will be even better. Thanks for instructional video. UPDATE: I got my BennVenn screen and used your instructions. Now my Lynx 2 looks fantastic.

Ah man, the Lynx II was such a great bit of kit in an unnecessarly massive case. So much fresh air inside. Without the fluorescent tube and reflector it could be half the size. Excellent video that tempts me to rebuild my first (worn out) Lynx that's been in bits for the last 25 years...

I got the original Lynx as a kid, and to this day I still say Todd's Adventures in Slime World in an unsung classic... At the time it was my second favorite game after Metroid lol!

I have a boxed Atari Lynx, with less than 2 hours play on it, but several pixels have gone on the screen so i'm seriously considering getting 1 of these screens! Thanks for bringing this to my attention Mark and an A+ for the fitting demonstration!

No solder is a no brainer, instant buy!

Thanks. Going to try this tomorrow when it arrives

Just completed my LCD mod. Thank you much for this video. Glad I ran into it. What a visual difference. So much joy. :)

That's such a great screen - and excellent tutorial video. Even simple installs are difficult to follow if the video isn't up to scratch.
  • @chad0x
I love the mini tips like putting it facedown on a cloth to stop it getting scratched.
  • Just powered up my lynx for the first time in a few years and saw part of the screen isn't working. Probably gonna buy this product to fix it. Thanks for the video.
  • @RetroRespawn
Nice! Thanks for sharing. I've ordered one for my Lynx II.

Such a difference, great mod. Makes slipping on one in the rear for some quick fun look great.

I remember doing the V1 install (mine was an early prototype). It wasn’t horrible, but this is soooooo much easier. Mind you, my recent BennVenn Lynx 1 install was, ummm.... fun.

Thanks for this video, I just got mine, this video will help.
