Breaking down every diss and reference on Kendrick's "Not Like Us," a catchier version of the allegations he first leveled at Drake on "Meet the Grahams", and has hit number one on the charts. Could it be the nail in the coffin on this historic beef?

For now, Kendrick can rejoice and hold his head high after issuing the knockout blow of the battle on Saturday (May 4) with “Not Like Us,” topping streaming charts on Spotify and Apple and already making its way into the heart of pop culture. Meanwhile, his adversary Drake is left to ponder his next move, after seemingly dismissing the lyrical combat in what was likely his last song of the battle, Sunday’s “The Heart Pt. 6.”

As he weighs his future, Drake may have to decide which route he wants to go when finishing his story. After receiving harsh criticism for For All the Dogs, he dashed into the studio because The Culture demanded more rap songs. That birthed the project’s Scary Hours Edition, featuring some of his best rapping to date. Though hip-hop purists applauded his efforts, not everyone clapped for him, as they awaited his demise and later rebuked him after Kendrick’s demolition derby.

if u fw the breakdowns, would appreciate a sub, hitting 100k before I graduate has always been a goal of mine and I got three weeks left🤞Let me know what I missed down below
  • I think the "I see dead people" also refers to him seeing drakes ghostwriters

The "A Minor" line gets even funnier if you know music theory. The A Minor scale has no flats or sharps, so on the piano it's all white keys.
  • Kendrick smart asf, every time I see ovo now I hear “Ovhoe” in my head
  • @3sper_06
My bf spent so long explaining this drama to me that now IM invested 😭

  • @Sushigh0st
2:22 Fun fact! Drake had a picture on his instagram with himself and Karl Malone, which he deleted shortly after this song was released.
  • @Itachi-uq2mu
I didn't even think about the “straighten your posture” bar. I think you're the first person Ive seen call attention to it.
  • @ihurricane7
Shawn Michaels rival being Canadian flew over my head completely! Great breakdown man

Not Like Us is on pace to debut at #1 with only 5 days of sales and streams, and it's not even close. Drake's entire thing is that he has the biggest numbers, and Kendrick still won.
  • The John Stockton line does refer to Karl Malone and the fact that he is a paedophile, but also Drake is a friend of Karl Malone and they posted a pic together last year, so it cuts a lot deeper than a simple Malone reference.

I think the "I see dead people" line also is because in the sixth sense (sorry this is a spoiler to those who haven't seen the movie) the dude the kid is hanging out with ends up being dead the whole time but he isn't aware that he's dead, which could also mean that Drake is already "dead" due to one of the previous diss tracks (the kill shot was probably meet the grahams). This is also saying that any comeback Drake comes out with will be irrelevant because he's already "dead."
  • Also the way he says minooooooooooooooor is a reference to when Drake says the thing about his kid being davefreeeeeeeeees
