A Texas man died in the Grand Canyon after being overcome in the heat during a hike. Writer Kevin Fedarko and photographer Pete McBride, know all about hiking in the Grand Canyon. They walked its entire length, a grueling 750-mile trek that took 14 months. The men tell Inside Edition they faced near-disaster many times. Fedarko's book about their exploits, "A Walk in the Park," is now a bestseller.

How did the death of a man turn into a book promotion?

People, stop hiking in the extreme heat. It is not worth your life!

How insensitive to report on a man’s tragic death and then in the same breath feature a book by self-promoting survivors of the same perilous terrain.

Ive had heat stroke one time in my life. Nearly died. Be careful out there.
  • As someone from Arizona my biggest piece of advice is don’t come to Arizona during the summer

is this an ad for this book or a story about someone passing away. I'm confused.

Y'all should not have merged those two stories together

Remember the world is not your friend. Just because it looks friendly doesn’t mean it is friendly.

It is not advised to go hiking during excessive heat weather

Is this book going to get promoted every time someone dies while hiking?

The big smile at the end was nice touch to a fatal story 😂 🤦

When will these people learn to stay indoors, play video games, and not die?

Unbelievible. The stupidity of a few hikers turned into a book promotion.
  • This happens all the time in Arizona, I live here and at least once a week during summer someone dies from going hiking in 110+ degree weather. I think people need to be smarter about hiking in Arizona

People still do not learn not to venture out in this extreme heat. You won’t know your own limitations until it’s too late.
  • @bjack194
People really need to learn to not go hiking in the Grand canyon during the summer time. Even the rangers don't recommend it go during the fall or early spring
  • Aint no way i can feel sorry for people who die over something they choose to not avoid

There is also another book called, “Death in the Grand Canyon.” I’ve backpacked in the Grand Canyon 3 times early November, March, and April. You can always layer up when it’s cold but you can’t avoid heat stroke in the warm months. Sad. He must of suffered tremendously. My sincere condolences.
