Backyard scientists defibrillator video did the same thing! It’s very strange why they do this but cool. In his video he also said it was a product (the worm catcher) but it was deemed too dangerous.

My cousins would use a mixture of salt and water or bleach and water to get them to surface. The strangest thing I have seen is using vibration. There is an old hillbilly I follow who makes "worm sticks". It's a stick carved with ridges. You put one end in the ground and rub it with another stick and the worms surface. I was skeptical but I told my brother about it and he told me he had noticed when he put an idling chainsaw on the ground worms would surface.
