In this video, we’re going to talk about the difference between Himalayan salt and sea salt. Is there really a difference?

Himalayan salt is actually very different from standard sea salt. Here’s why.

Although both Himalayan salt and sea salt have trace minerals, sea salt also has microplastics. One study found that 90% of sea salt products had small amounts of plastics.

However, Himalayan salt has zero microplastics. Why? Himalayan salt is sourced from an ancient sea that existed before humans and pollution.

Microplastics can create a lot of inflammation in the body because they act as endocrine disruptors. Microplastics also take 500 years to break down.

Do not use sea salt unless it’s Celtic sea salt. This is a much cleaner version of sea salt from France.

What about table salt? Well, not only does table salt have microplastics, but it is also bleach and doesn’t contain trace minerals. Additionally, table salt can contain added sugar and aluminum as an anti-caking agent.

We need a good-quality salt to help:
• Make HCL
• Support the adrenals
• Promote immune health
• Hydrate the body
• Promote healthy insulin levels
• Support the sodium-potassium pump

You need around 1-2 tsp of salt per day. This depends on your activity level. If you sweat a lot, this can increase your need for sodium.

If you’re on keto, you want a bare minimum of 1 tsp of salt a day. This is because, as you lose fat, you also lose water weight and electrolytes. Salt is a vital electrolyte.

Some studies show that certain microbes in your body can help break down microplastics. Make sure your microbiome is healthy. Additionally, cruciferous vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids can help detoxify your body, eliminate endocrine disruptors, and keep inflammation down.

    I switched to Himalayan Pink Salt completely about 6 yrs ago. Had gestational diabetes and high blood pressure in my 1st pregnancy. I found out that this salt regulates the blood pressure. I gave it a go and I remember adding a pinch of it in my drinking water too. I stopped white table salt completely. It has been 6 years since. I have 2 more kids - no gestational diabetes and no high blood pressure since. I can never think of buying another salt now. In additional to these, I also switched to blended olive oil for cooking food, and relied on fresh local produce rather than buying cans of tomatoes,beans etc. Yes another thing is I replaced white sugar with the cane sugar. I never knew this salt originates from the mountain that is located in my country - Pakistan. Makes me feel proud of that! However unfortunately, you need to find a very reliable supplier for this when buying because it comes in different purity levels. Yes this is true but not all sellers would tell you this. We found out after visiting the mine itself. I am lucky to find a trustworthy seller. I live abroad and recommend this salt to all for its health benefits!

    Thank you Dr. Berg for such clarity and facts about other salt ! Wow, I've been doing OMAD for 5 months now and being very disciplined about no / low carbs too. I have lost 80 pounds in 5 months without exercising. Finally seeing breathing room after about a year of NonAlcoholicFatty Liver disease... Normal BP, normal Liver enzymes, etc. , weight loss is good so my Doctors have told me, " Whatever you are doing just keep doing it !" I have about 30 more pounds to go but I've got this !! LOL I understand now because of you. It's not a diet , it's the correct way to eat. God bless Dr. Berg. Amen.

  • Thanks dr berg. You have mentioned inflammation a lot in this video. I've been been working on reducing inflammation by grounding (bare foot on grass/patio) for just 5 minutes a day every day.

    Thanks for those videos ! Always very interesting. Even though I’m not in a keto diet, I use the maximum of your advices and now see nice results, such as cleaner skin, without acnee and not dry, pink tongue, a lot more energy. It did not happen in one day of course… I’ve been eating more lipids and proteins and little carbs for maybe 2 months now. It is worth it !

    Oh! I have been taking 16 oz. of electrolytes water every day since finding your video and have been feeling MUCH better! Three years ago, I started to have difficulty working in the summer heat and couldn’t understand why: weakness, stuffiness, and wooziness. Getting older, I thought. Nope!     I mix Celtic and Himalayan and have used this combination for years. It cured me of my horrible "hay fever" that I suffered through for over a decade. The deathcare industry, here in America, prescribed me with flonase and claritin, both of which had horrible side effects(bloody nose and cotton mouth).
  • I used pink Himalayan for years but concerns over heavy metals so now I’m using Redmond real salt. It’s mined from an ancient sea bed and tested regularly for heavy metals among other things. Alot of Himalayan salts test high in heavy metals.
