The "creepy clown faces" is actually my favorite visual piece of the video, the girl has a smiling clown mask, and then she lifts it and you can see she's crying. In those two split seconds, so much is said, about how people wear happy masks to hide the pain from others, to the point where it's so unnatural it's almost clownish. It's too bad it often goes unnoticed, it's such a powerful metaphor.

Anyone else notice how Elizabeth seems to listen with her eyes as well as ears? I feel like its such a testament to her enthusiasm and love for these videos. Amazing.

People tend to dismiss bands like Evanescence since they sound very early 2000s and angsty (and have been memed to death) but the music is still good imo. Amy Lee has been my favorite female vocalist since I was little, her voice is truly incredible and haunting. Super nostalgic band, their music still evokes a lot of emotion in me as an adult.

I think "Lithium" is the best song to really showcase her amazing voice! So beautiful. Also she did a song with BMTH called "One Day the Only Butterfly's Left Will Be in Your Chest as You March Towards Death"
  • Good male and female combination with Amy Lee is the song “Broken” she did with seether 😎
  • @brianhedley5139
Most people don't give the male vocalist enough credit... Paul McCoy of 12 Stones does an amazing performance here too. He is amazing in his own right
  • @damenzier6638
One of the most underrated female vocalist. Powerful.
  • @stoindrae
"My Immortal" would be a better showcase of her voice... in my opinion. Also .. I enjoy watching your love of the great performances that have been presented to you... it is very endearing. I watch your facial expressions more than any of the videos you showcase .. LOL.

The girl with the facial expression of a shocked Disney princess! She is clearly very knowledgeable on her subject, but I love her reactions when she hears something she likes. 👍
  • @stoneddragon5400
I love how when she speaks there's a bubbly happiness in her voice, it almost makes me feel that too.

Amy Lee said in a 2021 interview that she did not want a male voice on this song. But the record company told her listeners to this Goth genre as it was called at the time would expect male voices not just a female voice. Now in her third iteration of her band, there is no male voice.

Amy lee has such an angelic voice, it brings me to tears, especially in “my immortal”
  • @phish2000
I would’ve loved to her your take on my immortal. That is the one dripping with emotion that makes me feel every time
  • @BR34NY
Sad fact though, the band didn't want the male vocalist in the song, they were forced by the label to add him and the rapping as they didn't believe a band with only a female vocalist could be big (clearly forgetting bands like Heart). Amy Lee said she cried a lot over what they did to the song. I always really liked that part of the song though, so I was sad when I found that out

Amy Lee was my first real crush when I saw this music video for the first time, back when I was a pre-teen. I remember sitting there with my jaw dropped the entire time while this video was playing. I found her voice powerful, emotional, dark, and angelic. And it was a perfect fit for her in every way. When he tries to pull her up, I was jealous. I wanted desperately to be in his shoes to save her from that fall. All of these years later, I still adore her. She's as beautiful now as she was back then. And her voice is just as angelic as ever.
  • @adnap
Holy cow, she’s pretty. Oh, and Amy Lee, too.
  • @WizardofOwls
He's trying to pull her into his world, but she wants to pull HIM into HERS!!! Love it!
  • @MarisaAndChew
My son is 19 now and wherever Evanescence is on the radio when we are in the car he says "I will always associate Amy Lee's voice with spending time with you in the car". Now he's abroad and listening to Evanescence makes me miss the car rides with the kids! Music definitely connects people and it deserves these break downs that create a dialogue! 💞
